Washington DC

I attended the Total Wine Tour de Bordeaux in Washington DC in their partnership with the Union de Grands Crus des Bordeaux revealing the 2020 vintage. I am a skeptic of hype around young vintages but came away duly impressed with the 2020 vintage. For many wines I took no notes but will include them in the closing discussion as either Stellar or Mildly Disappointing. Overall I came away exceedingly impressed with the vintage for its elegance and approachability. How it will stack up in the years to come is impossible for me to predict but I left supremely optimistic.
These were tasted in 2oz pours over several hours with ample wine and opportunity to re-taste most every wine.
Stellar (but expected):
Pichon Lalande
Pichon Baron
Leoville Poyferre
Chateau Clinet
Middle Category:
Chateau Pape Clement (a bit green and firm)
Mildly Disappointing:
Brane Cantenac
Cantenac Brown
Chateau St. Pierre (green)
Chateau Lascombes (tannic, needs time... a lot)
2020 Château Pavie Macquin
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
