Single vineyard in Avize, 30% fermented and aged in wood, full malo, bottled unfiltered, tirage sur liège, disgiorged May 2022 without dosage. Delicate and elegant, great minerally energy, marvellous terroir expression.
Disgorged 13 April 2021. Much lighter pitch than the VO which accompanied it, floral rather than nutty but the power and concentration are similar, wonderful lift, vinous and elegant, very good resonance and length.
Much rarer than the Initial, only 300 cases annually. Disgorged 2021. Deep and vinous, honeyed, rich and weighty but elegant and fresh, white nuts, floral lift, very good resonance and length.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Glossy, succulent fruit, floral lift, big and weighty (14%) but elegant and fresh, generous but refined, subtle bitters, excellent resonance and length. Still very young, but clearly classic Genevrières in the making.
Fermented and aged in oak, riddled by hand and disgorged by hand in August 2019. La Grande Année blended with Pinot Noir from La Côte aux Enfants. Rich, layered, complex, intense, tightly coiled, huge energy and drive, excellent resonance and length. Still in its infancy, great career ahead of it, lots of upward potential.
Julien Renard's top wine. A single parcel in the Einzellage Winninger Domgarten, single-pole trained vines, gravel and sand on slate, 22 months in wood, bottled unfiltered and without addition of sulfur, 11.9% ABV, 250 bottles produced. Marvellous purity and freshness, natural and relaxed, lovely weight and ripeness, flowers and mild yeasty notes, orchard fruits, delicately waxy, gentle and flowing, supple and juicy, long. Effortless elegance.
From a 0.55 hectare plot in Les Volibarts in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Inaugural vintage, 13% ABV. Batard from Champagne. I struggle to find words for it. The poem has been written, we have to learn to read the lines. This is such an emotional wine. The nose is huge, driving theough you like a TGV, the palate delivers flowers, limestone, ripe and succulent citrus, amazing energy, angelical harmony; the finish has breathtaking drive and length. Defies words.
