Honey, cream, butter, muted apple and peach. Juicy, honeyed, buttery notes soften this considerably. Long. Quite lovely.

Biscuit, bread yeast, slight bitterness, chalky minerality, a little sour cherry. Juicy, fleshy, crisp mousse, a little sour cherry, slight hard/green notes, talc textured tannic grip, slightly bitter on the finish. Meh

Honeysuckle, honey, white peach, a little slightly herbaceous note. Juicy, fleshy, savoury, slightly bitter, smidge of alcohol warmth, the fruit is a little muted on the palate.

A little bacon fat, butter, toasted nuts, a touch of sweet spice, stone fruit, smidge of citrus. Good quality oak. Juicy, fleshy, a little apple joins the stone fruit, those toasted nuts. Yum yum

Biscuit, tobacco, a little red hued fruit and a touch of cellar stink, sweet spice, red plum. Juicy, slightly sour, tangy, red berry and currant fruit a little textured burr, touches of earth, mushroom and Asian five spice in support. It's a bit tired.

2006 Bass Phillip Pinot Noir Estate

Wood glue, black and red berries, sweet spice, slight whole bunchy notes, jubey berries, a little almost orange peel. Medium plus intensity acidity, juicy, savoury dark fruit, talc textured burr, rather nice and has time ahead (as long as that wood glue note doesn't take over)

Fresh red berries, blackcurrant, a little bonfire, slight pyrazine, smoky notes, slightly jubey and a touch of damp cellar. Red and black fruit, talc textured drying tannins, fresh, a little leather, smoke. Lovely.

1982 Château Léoville Las Cases

Blackcurrant over blackberry, fruit tea, sweet and dusty spice, leather, earth, savoury notes, a little cedar and wet cellar. Juicy acidity, slightly tart, quite hard tight tannins prove a little chalky red over black fruits, tangy, good but slightly out of whack for me.

Baked red fruits sweet spice, a little alcohol prickle, baked earth, garrigue. Juicy and slight sour, medium plus intensity acidity, alcohol warmth, red hued fruits, a little tannic burr, lacks a bit of 'stuffing'.
Chateauneuf du Pape Grenache dominant from a, ahem, 'challenging' vintage"

A little truffle, toffee apple, caramel, a little sweet spice. Medium plus intensity acidity, caramel, ripe apple, toffee, balance of acid and sugar is slightly in favour of the acidity which lends a little sharpness, long, interesting, very good.

Clove, sweet spice, a little dusty cellar note, touches of brown sugar, raspberry complete and a quite menthol note. Juicy, slightly sour despite some residual sugar, a little medicinal on the palate, a smidge of bitterness, something not quite right.
