Introduction

According to a friend... casual is no formalities... fine...

Flight 1 (8 Notes)

  • 2020 Domaine Roulot Meursault Clos du Haut Tesson À Mon Plaisir 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

1392. Good reduction with good ripeness to support, even though the signature Roulot greeness can still lightly be found underneath. Mineral, green apple, stony. Plentiful vintage. 93+

  • 2017 Domaine Bizot Vosne-Romanée Les Jachées 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée

1696 bottles, 35 magnums and 4 jeroboams. Less weighty than the last bottle (root day), but incredible perfume still with just the freshest strawberry and minty/herbal notes to take it up an extra level, which took a few hours to reveal, nonetheless. Firm and silky tannin, high acidity, just some stem towards the back of palate. Did not stand a chance against DRCs, just a great village. 94+

  • 1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Echezeaux 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

07620/14651. Lovely vintage ripeness, much weightier than this wine in other vintages, with classic woodiness and enough red fruit to caress the palate. It was however quite sleepy throughout the night; not a vintage to drink yet, still. 93-94

  • 1999 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche 99 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Tâche Grand Cru

04857/16640. Four years later, this legend has barely aged a day. Immediately captivating with its completeness and largeness, yet so delicate without giving out its full self, just purity of red and dark fruit under the enormous disguise. How many more decades? Again, candidate for perfection, but still not there yet in terms of its full potential pleasure. 99-100

  • 1993 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Tâche Grand Cru

04447/17971. Much better than the last bottle and this DRC vintage in general, clean but green fruit, obviously shallower than the 99 LT on the side. Great weight, showing quite classically the terroir. 94

  • 1990 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg 98 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru

01020/15789. Fourth time is the charm? Even better than the previous ones, wow, just pure red-fruited spice box in completeness, blue jungle berries to keep it fresh, light notes of roasted game, the perfect balance of delicacy, power and pinching precision. Even more drive on the back end than previous bottles, firm yet silky tannins pushing it towards its regal edge. 97-98

  • 2019 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux 96 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru

00192/10606, some decanted. Ripe (14.5% ripe, which is not the case with most other cuvées of this vintage), quite polished and pretty with a huge structure underneath. Wine left in the bottles shows more nuances. Could be the best/most complete GE yet, certainly the largest, if it ever shakes off its baby fat to reach the delicate balance of 2010. Not a vintage to be popped today. 95-96+

  • 1989 Von Schubert Maximin Grünhäuser Herrenberg Riesling Auslese Nr. 94 93 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Orange acidity and very bright, good balance. 93
