Introduction

Gregg Greenbaum, his wife Marina and I met up at Ruen Pair, which is probably the best Thai food in LA, for Thai and Riesling. Which other than beer is the perfect combination for the spiciness of Thai food. We had a great evening talking, eating and exploring some young Germans....wine that is.

Flight 1 (1 Note)

  • 2002 Gunderloch Niersteiner Ölberg Riesling Eiswein 92 Points

    Germany, Rheinhessen

Out of a 375ml with Gregg Greenbaum and his wife Marina after Thai food and a couple other Rieslings. Gregg brought an 03 Riesling--please fill in. And I also brought a 99 Milz-Laurentiushof Riesling.

Agreed that the initial nose on this was very strange and almost like green olive juice. That blew off after a bit to reveal honey and peach syrup, which carried through to the taste. Not cloying in any way but well balanced with minerals, ripe peach syrup, and a little honey and something olive or earth like. Very nice Eiswein for $30 or so dollars
