Dark core with thinner rim; chocolate, deep and plush nose, layered, somewhat chalky, leather, some clay, toasted fennel, very savory, dark fruit; delicious; torn between d'Alceo or Red Rock Terrace 2010.
Browner core with larger orange rim; soy, aged, a bit tired on the nose, smoky, weedy, some ripeness, sun dried tomato, herbs, thinner and aging out, leather, long time in a barrel?; ok, Nebbiolo- Alto Piemonte?
Black core with purple rim; tar, purple, charcoal, so sweet and purple yet well aged, smoked meat, road tar, a juiciness that lifts up the corpulent structure, a little glycerin but not overbearing; I'm not liking this much either; '06 Kongsgaard Syrah?, should have known a little better looking back at my notes.
Pretty see through crimson with paler rim; sexy nose, candied roses, wild strawberry with sweet and sour red cherry, pretty nose that is inviting but the palate is a bit firmer, menthol, medicinal finish, elegant and well rendered but this needs some time.
Cloudy see through orange red with sediment; dried orange, zest, tomato puree, celery seed, sexy and elegant, really clean, showing purely but older and more resolved, truffle note on the finish is very nice; '97 Musar?
Golden color, steeliness at the rim; lemongrass, preserved lemon, herbs, honeycomb, yogurt, exotic and different, softer acids, minty herbal finish; Chard- Chablis 2011?, I should have known White Bones as acid wasn't right for Chablis.
Cloudy brown core with greenish yellow rim; raisins, figs, high toned, alcoholic, molasses; wow on the palate, sweet viscous and savory, so salty!, makes me salivate, fig jam, intense and really good though showing some nice nuance as well.
