  • 2021 Stonier Pinot Noir Reserve

    Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Mornington Peninsula

    Savoury, meaty, whole bunch, wild ferment over slightly concentrated red and black fruits, cedar/woody notes. Juicy, fleshy, dense, concentrated, slightly drying texture, fruit is a touch muted. Hmm.

  • 2022 Giant Steps Pinot Noir Wombat Creek Vineyard

    Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Yarra Valley

    Medium minus intensity aromas of sweet spice, a little black hued fruit, alcohol prickle and a meaty underpin. On the palate it's juicy, fleshy, black hued fruits, again feels slightly dilute, quite simple. Meh.

    Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills

    Savoury plums, cherry, sweet spice, slightly wild ferment notes, smidge of whole bunch spice. Plenty of textured grip, dark hued fruits, touch of bitterness on the finish. Needs time but a bit Hmm today.

  • 2022 Neudorf Pinot Noir Tom's Block

    New Zealand, South Island, Nelson

    Red hued fruits show pretty cherry and a little cherry lozenge, touches of whole bunch spice. Juicy, structured with grippy tannins, very slight bitterness isn't off-putting, softy cherry fruit. It's okay.

    Wild ferment, savoury and meaty with controlled whole bunch, dark hued fruit in the background. Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity, quite bitter and savoury on the palate with muted sour fruit. Meh

    Meaty, savoury, whole bunch, almost a touch of menthol, muted red hued fruit feels a little under-ripe. And so it proves on the palate with a fair alcoholic lick on the finish. Nah

    Very slightly smoky notes, red hued fruits, a little meaty note and a little creamy dollop. Sour and rather unpleasant on the palate with drying and coarse flour textured tannins Nah.

    Ooh, cranberries, fruit lozenges, a little almost cherry cola note, sweet spice. More of the same on the palate, juicy acidity, drying textured grip closes down the palate. Interesting, Time?

    Slight dusty notes, cranberry, jubey red fruit lozenge, a little ashy whole bunch. Juicy, fleshy, more fruit generous than the 2022, tannins are controlled. Medium plus length finish. Okay.

    Jubey warm red over black berry fruit backed by sweet oak spice, very slight whole bunch lends savoury spicy notes, concentrated and quite dense fruits and tannins in the mouth, the latter persistent and fine chalk textured, slightly reticent, time required

    Meaty and savoury wild ferment, black hued fruits; berry; cherry, very slight sweet spice. Smells young (whatever that means). Juicy tends to medium plus intensity acidity, savoury on the palate as well with black fruits, coarse flour textured tannins are slightly too much for the fruit, Long. Time. Okay.

    A little nail varnish remover, red hued fruits, baking and savoury spice, meaty; not a very nice nose. And it is quite hard and bitter on the palate with drying tannins that are coarse and far too much for the fruit, Nah.

    Dark hued fruits, touch of black cherry and berry, sweet spice, a little ashy note lends complexity, touch of savoury underpin. Quite bold on the palate, juicy, fleshy, drying tannins slowly overtake those dark hued fruits with the other attributes from the nose in support. complex, nice but time.

    Dusty baking spices, a little alcohol prickle, black hued fruits, a slightly odd creamy/butter notes. Densely chewy though generous black fruits, plentiful drying tannins, big, ripe-ish, hmm but time.

    New Zealand, North Island, Wairarapa, Martinborough

    Plenty of oaky spice, alcohol prickle, cherry and berry are both black hued. Juicy tending to medium plus intensity acidity but also lashings of tight, chewy, woody tannins, sweet spice, the shadow of the black fruits from the nose. Years required. Unapproachable, overdone.

    Savoury, jubey black berry over cherry fruit, ashy whole bunch, earthy, slightly farty notes. Juicy, fleshy, dense and slightly coarse tannins, black fruits have a touch of wild sourness to them. Medium length finish proves slightly bitter. Hmm.
