Medium straw. Dveloped nose, touch of wet wool, clearing a bit to become citrussy and minerally. Medium bodied, mineral, some oxidative notes but quite linear and fresh on the finish still, lovely acidity. Much more developed than the bottle I had last year - I'd be drinking through these if I had any.
Under DIAM (10). Lovely nose - youthful, quite ripe, almost tropical but plenty of salinity and minerality too. Medium bodied, middleweight with a touch of weight, vibrant acids, again that combination of ripe fruit and salty minerals, crisp acids, long finish. Excellent.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru
Quite developed appearance, medium garnet. This was initially a touch balsamic - it blew off a touch but never went entirely, quite rich with soil notes, underlying red and black berry fruit, touch of Christmas cake. Medium/full on the palate, quite rich, soft tannins, meaty dark fruit, not overly sophisticated in fact a touch “muddy” fresh acids, good length harmonious finish. A bit disappointing really given the vineyard.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Youthful with a rich, dark-fruited nose, vanilla oak, touch of lquorice. Medium/full bodied, quite plush, tactile and layered with waves of sumptuous dark fruit, touch of meatiness, lovely vibrant acids, long finish. Lovely, should age well.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
This is quite aromatic, with dark fruit, herbal notes. Soil, game. Quite complex if a but dusty. Medium bodied, leanish, dusty dark fruit, spice, fine but still quite firm tannins, good length finish.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart Grand Cru
4/13, good cork. This was aromatic, quite youthful still, red and black fruited, quite floral, spide notes. Complex and pure. Medium bodied on the palate, soft tannins, seamless and a touch understated but with plenty of class and complexity, lovely vibrant acids, long harmonious finish. Excellent, touching outstanding, drinking well but no hurry here.
France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Coteaux du Layon
Oxidative nose, complex, salty, ripe apple, some autumn leaves. Complex. Medium bodied, dry/medium-medium, some barley sugar notes, fine boned, articulate, burnt apple notes, fresh acidity lifts the wine nicely into a decent length finish. Interesting wine.
