Bruised apple ox, pear, strawberry and a tinge of toffee apple character on the nose. Palate is straw and pear flavoured, with plenty of punchy acid and some oxidative notes on the mid palate. High intensity profile here but feels pretty ready to go.
Blind. Powerful nose - lemon, pear, apple and honey. Punchy acidity that works well with the rich fruit style and some dosage that does assert itself. Good length and interest.
Honeyed, peach, spice and earthy notes. Palate is very clear and clean, with good acid drive that carries and flows very well. Lovely length, this is a great mix of freshness and complexity. Drinking very well now.
Australia, New South Wales, Central Ranges, Orange
Blind. Mandarin, white florals and straw. Decent texture about it at the start but fairly light on length. Has some crispness to it as well. Pretty decent.
Blind. Toast, lime, apple and sea spray. Impressive flow, mineral and pure on the palate. Lovely length and balance. Drinking really well at the moment.
Blind. Yellow florals, toast, spice and lemon. Rich and ripe style, lovely texture and still retains detail beneath the power here. Very young and energetic still.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Smoky, tropical, pineapple, lemon and pear. Appealing open profile on the palate, with that reductive character over the top of bright fruit and acidity. Very good carry and lift to this. Lots of potential.
Blind. Smoke, vanilla, honey and pear. Palate veers from taut to sweet edged which is a good combo. Quit good structure from the oak and acidity. Lots of time on its side.
Light gold colour. Lemon, white floral, spice and toast with some red berries as well. Delicate on the palate with knockout balance of sweetness and acidity. Delicate and considered wine that is drinking really well at the moment.
Australia, New South Wales, Central Ranges, Orange
Blind. Stalk, strawberry and cherry. Lots of red berries on the palate, the fruit sweetness is present but a decent job is done to hold it back. Medium length and pretty good balance.
Earth, cherry, graphite and redcurrant. Tight and coiled on the palate, clenched tannins and compact fruit profile. Really nice but needs a good amount more time.
New Zealand, South Island, Otago, Central Otago Bendigo
Blind. Stemmy, tobacco, smoke and violets. Quite tannic palate, with driven dark fruits that are quite bold (and they need to be with the structure). Interesting and quite enjoyable in style, though it's quite full on for Pinot.
Blind. Light coloured. Some cherry and spice on the nose. Palate is light in intensity as well, the fruit is delicate but the finish is a little bit bland. Seems to be lacking some depth.
Blind. Prune, tobacco, red berries and plum. Palate shows off a dense fruit style with plenty of fruit weight. Feels much younger than it is, it's holding up very well and that fruit density will let it keep powering on.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Blind. Cranberry, smoke, cherry and some raspberry as well. Very young on the palate, the fruit is youthful but there is a delicacy to it as well. Set up very well for success in the future.
Floral lift, spice, herbs and blackberry on the nose. Lovely pure fruit on the palate, the lift carries across from the nose. Great length and flavour here. Super value in context.
