Pop and pour, drank a good-sized glass over an hour. This is surprisingly integrated for a 2019. There's a touch of sulphur from the oak, the rest of the oak is mellow, oozing into slight butterscotch, melon and lime zest. A bit of tingly minerality is found on the finish.
Pop and pour, drank a good-sized glass over 1.5 hours. ROCKNROLLERs note from 2019 still applies. Very very berry, oodles of fruit. The 2012 tasted alongside this was a bit more full and complete as wines go, but I'll score them the same.
30 minute decant, then back into the bottle for a few hours before drinking a good-sized glass over 1.5 hours. This seemed to have more structure than the 2009, some tannin and earth to round out ALL OF THE FRUIT, raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, name a berry and you'll probably find it in here. This is a tasty modern Napa cab that is showing well right now.
A one hour decant, drank a good-sized glass over 2 hours. In hindsight it may have been a disservice to serve this alongside 2009 and 2012 Outpost True vineyard, even though the 2012 was chosen in advance to accompany the Mascot. The stylistic difference is evident, as is more varietals in the composition. There's more nuance to The Mascot, it has better balance, a soft Harlan-esque profile, but is barely in the same field as a proper Harlan qualitatively. Obviously the price is also very different. I'd like to try this again, preferably by itself, as I felt the attention-getting Outposts kind of walked over it.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
This was quite harmonious, mellow and integrated. Its not small, but it wasn't a modern bruiser like I was expecting. For CDP these days, this is a wine.
NV Billecart-Salmon Champagne Brut Réserve 92 Points
France, Champagne
Hmm, my 15th note for this NV champagne.... Great entry level champagne. Toast, yeast, brioche, mineral and lots of acidity.
