  • 2022 Wild & Wilder Riesling The Courtesan

    Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Clare Valley

    12%, less than 1gr/lt, 2 months on lees
    Expressive, dry, fruit forward, mineral, with time as it warms up you get some petrol notes but luckily not much
    Palate very fruit forward, apricot, stone fruit, tropical fruit, light, easy, fresh, lime, med finish, some green notes too.

  • 2022 Thistledown Grenache Gorgeous Rosé

    Australia, South Australia

    2 months on lees, 2gr/lt, 13,5%
    Ripe fruit, showing density for a rose, strawberry, currant notes, some toast/smoky notes, freshness,
    Palate showing tensity, acidity, a weird pharmaceutical bitterness like mashed aspirin, herbal notes, med body, med finish.
    Utterly different rose wine

  • 2022 Thistledown Chardonnay Great Escape

    Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley

    85% fermented and aged in oak, 15% cement eggs, no mlf, 13.50%, 10 months ageing in oak
    Forward, dry, expressive, citrus notes, some hay notes, grapefruit notes, showing depth and structure
    Palate is tight, flinty, toast notes, aggressive in palate for now, tight texture, high acidity, very fresh and youthful, needs some time, full body, almond like notes, med finish.

  • 2022 Thistledown Walking With Kings Roussanne Grenache Blanc

    Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

    60% Roussanne is treated like Chardonnay, so a high solids wild ferment in French oak (300L), whole bunch, approx. 20%-30% new and mainly Damy/D&J.
    40% Grenache Blanc is treated oxidatively, to reduce bitter phenolics, and wild ferment in barrel. Mainly older French 300L. Both wines will be in barrels from March through to Feb.

    Powerful in the nose, quite fruity, showing depth, grapefruit, tight but also giving away fruit, nice herbal notes, refreshingly bitter.
    Palate following the nose, with some tropical notes, the oak is more pronounced here, tight, nice acidity, vibrant, full body, nice oak frame, med to long finish.

  • 2022 Thistledown Gorgeous Grenache

    Australia, South Australia

    Grenache +4% Shiraz 1% mourvedre, 300-500lt, 3-5yo for 6-7 months, 14.50%
    Fresh, fruity, a touch herbal, red fruit, black fruit, a few reductive notes hiding in the fruit.
    Palate showing the same profile, some bitter notes, black fruit, licorice, silky tannins, smooth, med body, med finish

  • 2022 Thistledown Grenache Thorny Devil

    Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

    Grenache, old vines, bush vines, 5% new oak 300lt-500lt (2-7yo), 10 months,
    Ripeness in the nose, fresh, showing depth, cherry, currant, some herbal notes lifting the fruit, some pomegranate notes, ethereal, very welcoming.
    Palate shows fine tannins, elegant, red cherries, shows tannins, a touch warm, juicy tannins with a bit of an edge in them, full body, med to long finish, crunchy texture.

  • 2022 Thistledown Gorgeous Shiraz

    Australia, South Australia

    +11% Zibibo 4% Fiano, co-fermented, 2g/lt
    Fresh red fruit, white muscat notes sticking out lifting everything up and giving a “funnier” and “happier” version for a Shiraz, floral notes.
    Palate is easy, fruit forward, light tannins, the muscat comes back strong again, silky texture, med body and finish

  • 2022 Thistledown Shiraz The Cunning Plan

    Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale

    Stainless steel fermentation, then ageing in 300L French, 10%-20% new
    The wine shows a different side of Grenache, black fruit, plum, firm frame, some spice notes way in the back
    Palate showing warmth, black fruit, crunchy, juicy bold tannins, plums/prunes, currants, dusty big tannins, med body and long finish
    As Baldrick used to say “I got a cunning plan my lord … !!!”
