My favorite Champs Libres of three vintages tried. Beautiful and full bodied.

  • 2019 Château Lafleur Les Perrières de Lafleur 95 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur

On a legendary night of Lafleur bottlings, this stood out as a highlight. Easily the best of three Perrieres vintages over two days and drinking superbly now after a day of slow ox. These are very young vinces from a new limestone project by Lafleur. As of this vintage, I think they've hit their full magnificent stride.

  • 2017 Château Lafleur 97 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

Do not underestimate this great vintage of Lafleur. They used candles to overcome the terrible frost that ruined many other crops. My third favorite out of six vintages of Lafleur over two days, behind only the 2020 and 2005.

  • 1996 Château Lafleur 96 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

Fabulously advanced in its tertiary stage. Full of mushroom, truffle, moist soil. I found this to be far superior on my rating scale than most other CT reviewers. Exactly what I want in a great aged Bordeaux that turns tertiary.

  • 2005 Château Lafleur 99 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

My favorite of six vintages of Lafleur tasted over two days (2020, 2017, 2011, 2005, 2001, 1996). Its quality was such that I enjoyed even over vintages more advanced in their drinking windows. Omri Ram said this was his most drinkable encounter with 2005, maybe 5% into its full drinking window. Could it reach a version of perfection in 20 years? Long life ahead, but don't fear opening bottles in the near term.
