Introduction

Adam, Steve, Candy and I made the pilgrimage. Really wonderful food and great service.

Flight 1 (5 Notes)

The awesome Mersel Pet Nat was purchased off the list, and we brought the rest. Super fun exploration of these wines with an wonderful tasting menu.

  • 2021 Mersel Leb Nat Gold

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

50% Merwah and 50% Viognier. 12.5%. Really fresh and refreshing. Floral and peachy on the nose. White peach, hint of faintly bitter pith or an almond pit, cyanide, faintly bitter stonefruit note.

  • 2016 Chateau Musar Rosé Flawed

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

    Sadly and hideously corked.

  • 2016 Chateau Musar Blanc

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

What a crazy wine. Funky nose, oxidative, varnish. Oily and intense on the palate, citrus, long, powerful. Sort of an old Rioja Blanco but perplexing, hard to describe and complex. It was also an unreal and perfect pairing with a scallop dish.

  • 1999 Chateau Musar

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

Provencale herbs. Touch of VA. Warm and bright with cherry, earthy on the back end. This softens and gets warmer with air, strawberry preserve, baking spice.

  • 2001 Chateau Musar

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

The exact opposite of the 1999. Deep and earthy, bloody, Syrah personality, gaining a pine forest character over time. Deep, almost unyielding, but over time this gains a really poignant balsamic note on the finish, sweet and sour, great acidity.
