Els Jelipins Tasting

Els Jelipins is not a winery I have heard off but was informed about this tasting the night before and was recommended to try them as they are highly sought after.

• 2021 Els Jelipins Vi Rosat 93 Points

  Alluring bouquet of rasberry, strawberry, hint of natural notes adding to the complexity. Pure on the palate with great elegance, light body, high acid and long persistent finish.

• 2022 Els Jelipins Vi Rosat 95 Points

  Spain, Catalunya, Penedès

  This was darker and higher in body compared to the 2021. Tart and fresh showing the density of the fruits. Structured on the palate, lively and high acid. Wonderfully balance with the ability to age. This does not taste like a rose but more lightly macerated. Superb stuff

• 2020 Els Jelipins Vi Negre 95 Points

  Spain, Catalunya, Penedès

  Beautiful nose of strawberry, coconut, pure, layered on the palate with fine tannins and med acid. Such a lovely yet energetic wine. Half aged in oak and half in amphora. This is a beauty.

• 2017 Els Jelipins Vi Negre 96 Points

  Spain, Catalunya, Penedès

  Any concern wines from Els Jelipins will not aged was put to rest with this. Youthful with pure red fruits of strawberry, cherry, coconut with touch of VA. Slight tertiary notes showing on the palate with hint of seaweed notes. The age have given the wine additional dimension and complexity.

First time trying Sumoll grapes which was describe to me as PN. Have to agree the flavours and profile is similar to PN. Thoroughly impressed with the wines and they are so well priced. Will definitely be seeking them out.
