    Nice white wine from the rioja.

    A good evolution, drinks nicely now but I reckon it could age a bit further.

    Not groundbreaking, but certainly a good value for the price, an easy drinking wine.

    A lot of white flowers on the nose, a nice acidity and buttery feeling in the mouth but a rather short finish

    Kind of boring, it does not have a lot to give, goes not so bad with food.

    An overall decent wine but certainly uninteresting from a tasting perspective.

    Certainly better than the Crianza red.

    A nice fresh white rioja, just a tint of oak, some fruitiness on the nose, but a short finish. A nice acidity.

    An overall not so bad value.

    Drunk at 'Deliranto' in Salou.

    I was lucky to drink this wine as it is harder and harder to find. It was served just a bit chilled (14c) and in Josephin N3 glasses.

    The wine was drunk throughout the dinner and was complementing well the menu.

    The color was a beautiful deep and luminous yellow while being a bit syrupy, as if you were pouring liquid gold.

    Upon opening, the nose was a lot oxydative with a strong walnut smell and the palate was rather closed showing only some tropical fruits and a bit of minerality.

    After some time (~1,5 hours), the wine really started to open up and was a totally different experience, with notes of lemon, butter, (maybe cocoa butter), nuts, wax, salt, and even gaminess. The wine was really gaining in width and length.

    The mouthfeel of the wine is one of the best I've ever drunk, reminding me of really old Meursaults I've tasted.

    The wine was not a straight punch in the face, with each sip it slowly and effortlessly took its place and remained on your palate with a really impressive length.

    Overall a tremendous mature white wine. If you find one, drink one!

    I have not a lot of experience with tequila I have only tasted a few.

    It has a nice structure, a lot of oak, alcohol is really present, there are some apple and apricots notes, a bit of cinnamon. A really soft and integrated mouthfeel.

    It is a really good spirit but not ground breaking.

    P.S. : I had forgotten to include the spirit notes, they were lost inside my note application on my phone x).

  • NV Lapis Añejo Tequila 94 Points

    Tasted at 'Deliranto' in Salou

    Tasted just after the 1800 Milenio.

    That is quite a difference in spirit making.

    Way less oak, white flowers, dried fruits, caramel, vanilla.

    The alcohol is nearly imperceptible!

    The nose is way bolder than the mouth which is really fine and precise.
    There is a long and persisting aftertaste

    A perfect way to end a really nice evening!

Closing

This trip reinforces my belief on Spainish wines (from a Frenchman's perspective.

Spain really does know how to make good wine, like everywhere on earth there is rubbish, but the overall quality to price ratio is incredible compared to the rest of the old world.
