I had the opportunity to taste this champagne twice, the first bottle was opened on christmas eve of 2023 and was completely oxidized which is weird seeing as this champagne was relatively young.
Indeed, I am only commenting the second tasting, drunk with friends before a lunch.
A nice champagne, I believe its a blanc de blancs, some yeasty flavours, but not a lot of finesse nor complexity.
A good experience when the bottle is good, a nice introductory note.
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Drunk at lunch with some friends.
I am lucky enough to have tasted a lot of Milens different vintages, from 1999 to 2019, and I believe this is the best one so far.
The tannins are really soft and integrated, a nice medium to full body, dark fruit aromas. In a sens it reminds me the integration of the 2011 vintage but with a lot more body and complexity. A nice ripe fruit picked at the right time.
The bottle was opened and shouldered a few hours prior to degustation.
It really stood off compared to all the other wines present. I am eager to see how it will age !
