  • 2022 Maxime Dubuet-Boillot Volnay Sur Roches 88 Points

    Walkaround tasting with producers. This has the "VE" designation on the label, indicating it is whole cluster. Floral with strawberry, lithe and bright, but I find this presently too dominated by the whole cluster spice notes. Give this time to harmonize, 87-89 point potential based on how well it harmonizes.

    I do not know if there is another non-VE cuvee, but doubt it.

    Walkaround tasting with producers. Sweet red and black cherry on nose and palate, coming across as floral and well spiced with good power, 1er Cru density. Charming most of the way through with a slightly firm middle, hold until 2026 or 2027 forward.

    Walkaround tasting with producers. Destemmed. 30% new oak already fully absorbed. Bright red cherry with some berry notes, too. Elegant throughout with good weight for its level. Worth seeking out.

  • 2022 Domaine Jessiaume Beaune 1er Cru Cent-Vignes

    Walkaround tasting with producers. Destemmed. Bigger yet vs Gravières just tasted but much less harmonious. Black and red cherry start-to-finish, spice and meat background hints, firm middle but with good+ depth and density. Give this until at least 2028-.

    Walkaround tasting with producers. Basically the same wine as the Les Brulis just tasted, but with elevage in oak, 10% of which is new. Same profile but with more structure and less brightness.

  • 2022 Domaine de Mauperthuis César Bourgogne Amphore

    Walkaround tasting with producers. 10 months skin contact in Amphora, then finished in neutral oak with no sulfites added. Black fruits start-to-finish with earthy, woodsy notes, giving mouth coating textures with good weight, slightly coarse tannins. Interesting.
