Introduction
With the help of Michael Ploetz (Director of Sales - Arrow & Branch Winery), my wife and I organized an A&B winemaker dinner with good friends of ours at Murphy's in Atlanta, GA. This was a great event to get us ready for the official Atlanta High Museum Wine Auction events starting the next day.
Michael brought a wonderful selection of A&B wines (some from their library!) and he worked with Murphys' chef to craft an outstanding food and wine pairing menu!
WOTN for me was the '17 Arrow and Branch Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Cabernet Sauvignon

2016 Arrow & Branch Right Bank Blend 93 Points

A&B winemaker dinner @ Murphy's in Atlanta. From Magnum. PNP. Paired with Fazzolerri pasta (lamb). Drinking very well. This is A&B's blend that's inspired by Cheval Blanc. My second favorite wine of the night. I picked some of this up for my cellar. Brad - heavypourwine.com

2017 Arrow & Branch Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard 95 Points

A&B winemaker dinner @ Murphy's in Atlanta. From Magnum. PNP. Paired with grilled wagyu shortrib and served alongside the '19 A&B VHR. Blue fruit. EXCELLENT pairing and WOTN for me. I picked up several for the cellar. It was interesting that almost everyone else at the dinner felt that the VHR was the WOTN and some indicated they detected smoke taint in the Dr. Crane. I didn't detect even a hint of smoke taint and thought this wine was fantastic! Brad - heavypourwine.com

2019 Arrow & Branch Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill Ranch 92 Points

A&B winemaker dinner @ Murphy's in Atlanta. From 750. PNP. Paired with grilled wagyu shortrib and served alongside the '17 A&B Dr. Crane. Red fruit. Great pairing and really good wine although it was my least favorite of the reds (tough competition with some of the library stuff that they served!) It was interesting that almost everyone else at the dinner though this wine was the WOTN and my WOTN was the '17 Dr. Crane. I also noticed I scored the VHR a few points lower this time than when I originally tasted it at the estate last year. Perhaps my lower score was because of the lack of air?
