James secured me an invitation to see his and Apostrophe's portfolio's
Lime, kaffir lime leaf, unripe granny smith. Medium plus intensity acidity, slightly green on the palate, flavours as per nose, a little short, simple, okay

Medium minus intensity aromas show candied lime peel, lemon, a little honeyed note. Medium plus intensity acidity, broad without being textured, citrussy profile a little richness, okay.

Lots of struck match solids up front, over muted stone fruit and lemon, sour citrus and bacon fat on the palate, medium plus intensity acidity, tangy textured, suppressed malolactic fermentation? If yes that's a mistake for me here.

buttery, okay, rich smelling, stone fruit artefact is present here. Medium plus intensity acidity, juicy stone fruit, plenty of wood texture dries out the palate a little. Hmm

Lemon is to the fore, a little creamy leesy notes, slightly waxy. Residual sugar? Offsets acid, lemon, slightly bitter and hard on the finish. Hmm. Time?

Waxy, slightly citric, waxy lemons, savoury minerals and saline notes plenty of skin contact textured, fruit far more muted on the palate. Hmm

Very clean, cherry, carbonic maceration nose, pretty, slightly ashy underpin. In the mouth it's juicy, slightly sour with cherry, fleshy with textured burr that rasps the palate, simple. Hmm

Medium minus intensity aromas prove meaty, gamey over black cherry, earth, spice. Juicy, less 'grubby' on the palate, woody textured is drying, finishes very slightly bitter. Hmm. Okay. One of the better ones of these I've had.

Savoury wild ferment lends a meaty note that goes hand in hand with dark berry fruit, juicy, savoury, dark hued fruit, talc textured tannins persist in support, long, good.

rich, dark hued fruit show blackberry and cherry, polished oak, savoury underpin lends interesting. Juicy, a little jubey carbo crush, fruit as per nose, drying powdery textured tannins appear and shut up shop for the finish otherwise rather clever.

Meaty, savoury blackcurrant, plums, cherry, plenty of woody notes here as well. Medium plus intensity acidity and tannins, chewy, planky oak, fruit plays second…no, third fiddle to this. Crikey

Polished oak, baked earthy, leather, black and red cherry, berry over muted blackcurrant fruit, sweet spice & alcohol prickle. Medium plus intensity acidity and tannins, slightly sour black hued fruits behind this, caramel, sweet spice on the finish. Beast mode.

dense black hued fruits, savoury and sweet spice, alcohol prickle, quite a monolithic nose unsurprisingly. On the palate a cornucopia of black fruits, concentrated, liquorice, touch of minty freshness derived from the alcohol, dense, chewy tannins. Woof.

Slightly oxidised, baked earthy, black hued fruits are slightly dried out, a little wood and dusty spice. In the mouth mocha, blackberries, a little almond here as well as a herbaceous menthol note. Yum.

2019 Tenuta Cucco Barolo Serralunga d'Alba
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
fruit tea, orange rind, pot pourri, cranberry and cherry. Medium plus acidity is a little clumsy, caramel oak obscures the palate, grape and combine to provide high tannins, medium plus length, time but that oak is a little too intrusive currently.
