Absolutely loved this -- it needs a little bit of air to get going, but it's so exuberant and delicious this is great from the get-go. Just that perfect balance of cabernet franc perfume, but with none of the ashy greenness on the palate either. Generous fruit but not overwhelmingly so, and plenty of black-fruited weight here. Very approachable and enjoyable now, though clearly not a wine that will suffer for aging.
Intense, pure chardonnay, with that youthful acidic cut that gives this all that extra zip and verve. The fruit comes off slightly mature with a relatively riper profile and just a hint of maturity, but maybe it's more of a sappy profile here. Chewy, the way good white wines ought to be, and with plenty of fruit and density. Intense and minerally, the way good chardonnay ought to be.
Damn, this was really, really good, and head and shoulders above many a bottle of Burgundy. Among the best non-European pinot noirs I've had. This has a nose that is actually slightly evocative of Domaine Leroy in that blend of earthy umami and pure fruit. The palate took a few hours to really get going, but it had beautiful, crisp red fruit, and a mix of polished fruit and rusticity that I really adore. Clean as a whistle, and absolutely compelling stuff.
