    NV but based on 2020 vintage, 30 months on lees, no fining or filtration, extra brut, 352 cases, grapes sourced from Wenzlau, Sanfor &Benedict, Bentrock vineyards
    The wine shows hgih intensity, yeast notes, crunchy, full in the nose, lime, citrus freshness, biscuit notes.
    Palate with high carbonation, citrus, lemon flavors, mineral, citrus, med body, med finish. Big, bold flavors, very upfront

    The nose is ripe, fresn, dense, fruit core, nice oak frame, nutty, vanilla, pastry notes.
    Palate with the oak way upfront, vanilla, nutty, walnut, almond, roasted notes, intensity, full body and long finish

    La Mesa + Wenzlan vineyards, 11 months in 10% new french oak, 5 months in stainless steel
    Plush, full fruit forward, lime, ripe tropical fruit, fine oak frame, herbal notes, chamomile/tea notes, nice green fruit notes in the back.
    Palate shows nice smooth texture, fine grained oak frame, vanilla notes, crunchy, med to high acidity, tasty, med finish

    North facing, rocky soils (clay loam, sandy loam), 11 months in 25% new french oak, 7 months in steel, 546 cases
    Smooth, subtle, lower intensity than St Rita Hills, the oak is covering the fruit.
    Palate oakier, more tense, high acidity, firm oak, juicy, fruit, vanilla, almond, ripe elegant, needs some time though, med finish

    La Encantada , Rinconada, Rancho La Vina, Sanfond & Benedict, 50% whole cluster, native yeast, 17 months in 15% new french oak
    Smooth, juicy, fine oak frame, red cherry, berry, sour cherry, floral notes, fragrant, welcoming.
    Palate showing med intensity, fragrant again, the fruit is red cherry, more linear than expected, high acidity, red currant, dry texture, oak notes, med finish

  • 2021 Racines Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Sta. Rita Hills

    USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills

    3 parcels fro mthe 70s+80s, Bottella clay loam full of chert and shale, over 2/3 whole cluster, pigeage, 19 moths in 30% new French oak, 936 cases
    The wine shows earthier, heartier, oakier profile, the oak much more upfront, covering up all the fruit, very spicy, sweet spices, nutmeg, clove.
    Palate shows med intensity, darker fruit, some licorice notes, tobacco notes, smoky even, clove and cinnamon, again forward, med body and finish

    Big powerful in the nose, thick fruit core, tense, juicy, extrovert, playful.
    Palate showing the same profile, fresh, herbal notes, vegetal notes, fresh ripe blue and red fruit, alcohol warmth, tight tannins, full body, long finish

    The wine shows med intensity, black fruit, smoky, some herbal notes, peppery notes, tobacco notes.
    Palate showing depth, purity of fruit, juicy notes, some coffee notes, spice notes, alcohol warmth, full body, long finish flavoured with coffee and chocholate beans. Youthful with oak derived flavors

    Palate again juicy, fresh red fruit, currant, cherry, pomegranate, med body, elegant, a few gamey/smoky notes, elevated acidity, med finish filled with olives
