  • 2022 Kilburg Goldtröpfchen Riesling trocken 92 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

The nose was a lot more reserved compared to Ohligsberg. Some mineral notes, lemon, orange rind, and a hint of stone fruit emerged. Great acidity with more citrus notes, grapefruit, and a hint of white peach on the palate. Good finish. A very good wine, but I feel like this needs ore time. Not as enjoyable right now but the material is there. 92++

  • 2022 Kilburg Ohligsberg Riesling trocken 93 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

A lot more pronounced and outgoing nose compared to the Goldtröpfchen. Pretty flavors of lemon, peach, and minerals on the nose that turned a bit more savory with air. High acidity on the palate with lots of minerals, a bit of dry extract, lemon, stone fruit, and maybe a hint of pear. Nice and lingering finish. Lovely wine! It's young but also very approachable. It did, however, close down a bit with air (the opposite of the Goldtröpfchen). Still, over the majority of the night, I had a clear preference for the Ohligsberg. 92-93+

  • 2022 Kilburg Goldtröpfchen Riesling Kabinett 94 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Very interesting nose with lemon, a slight hint of honey, peach, and minerals. Again, it's more backwards than the Ohligsberg side-by-side. The palate is great with nice complexity and lovely balance. There is noticeable sweetness, but it's framed perfectly by the acidity. Flavors of peach, apricot, lemon, and orange. Nice finish. Great wine that needs time. I felt this was quite the step up from the trocken. 94+

  • 2022 Kilburg Ohligsberg Riesling Kabinett 95 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Lovely nose with notes of peach, lemon, grapefruit, candied fruit, and pear. The palate is fantastic and has a lot going on. High acidity with perfectly balanced sweetness, flavors of lemon, a hint of smoke, peach, more grapefruit, citrus zest, apple, and just a tiny bit of honey. Long finish. Wow, this was really good! Drinking better than the Goldtröpfchen right now and I also think this has the stuffing to age beautifully. My WOTN. 95++

  • 2022 Kilburg Goldtröpfchen Riesling Spätlese 94 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Pretty nose that seemed quite subtle with some citrus and stone fruit notes but nice depth. Good acidity balancing the sweetness and quite full on the palate with more peach and stone fruit, apple, and citrus flavors. Nice finish that lingers. This was really good! I do think that the sweet spot (no pun intended) are the Kabinetts and maybe this missed just a tiny bit of freshness in comparison; still a great wine.

  • 2022 Kilburg Ohligsberg Riesling Spätlese 93 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Quite bright flavors on the nose with citrus, minerals, grapefruit, and a hint of pineapple. Good balance although the sweetness is getting quite high with stone fruit, a hint of tropical fruit, and honey flavors. Good finish. A very nice wine, but at this Prädikat-level I preferred the Goldtröpfchen.

  • 2022 Stein Alfer Hölle Riesling 1900 94 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

Quite interesting and certainly very unique nose with citrus, lemon, some savory notes, slate, and a bit of peaty / smoky notes. Good acidity with grapefruit and lime flavors, a hint more stone fruit, and minerals. It's quite dry (although maybe not completely?) and very deep. Nice finish. Great wine that needs a bunch of time. 93-94++

  • 2015 Nikolaihof Riesling Reserve Steiner Hund 93 Points

    Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau

Interesting and slightly funky nose with citrus, apple, and mineral notes. Good acidity with ripe fruit flavors, more citrus, lemon, green apple, and a textural mouthfeel on the palate. Feels like it had a bit of lees contact and almost finished like a white Burgundy. Very enjoyable wine, although probably not a classic vintage. Still lovely!

  • 2019 Domaine Chandon de Briailles Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Ile des Vergelesses 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru

Nice nose with spices, red cherry, and strawberry notes. It's quite primary and floral but has nice depth. Good acidity on the palate with fresh fruit, lots of red berries, and some underwood. Good finish. Very enjoyable wine, but maybe not super complex at the moment. It is drinking well, however, so not sure if the complexity will really come out with age.

  • 2020 Wasenhaus Spätburgunder Bellen 94 Points

    Germany, Baden

Quite fragrant nose with some spices, cherries, and forest notes. Good acidity on the palate with more cherry flavors, red fruit, and earth. There are a good amount of tannins and a nice, long finish. The palate is perhaps note quite as open and interesting than the nose at the moment, but it has everything to age. This is a very good, interesting, and unique Pinot Noir. It doesn't really taste like Burgundy or any other Pinots, but it obviously shouldn't and that's a good thing. This should age beautifully and I would hold for 7-10 years. 94+
