Flight 1 (1 Note)

  • 2022 Domaine Nathalie et Gilles Fevre Chablis 91 Points

    France, Burgundy, Chablis

Very nice Chablis from this branch of the Fevre family who have had their own Domaine for about 20 years. Vinification in stainless steel.
From an open bottle, chilled. More expressive as it warmed and showed stone fruit, citrus and minerality on the nose. The medium bodied palate showed the same stone fruit, lemon and minerality, along with a touch of salinity. The acidity was fresh and balancing and was the perfect match for our escargot appetizers. Should hold for many years and worth seeking out at its $25-30 price.

Flight 2 (1 Note)

  • 2020 Stéphane Ogier Côtes du Rhône Le temps est venu 91 Points

France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

A very likeable Cotes du Rhone with some heft and presence. My research shows this vintage is a blend of 60% Grenache + 40% Syrah & Mourvedre.
From an open bottle. Dark fruits and a touch of violet on the nose. The medium to plus bodied palate showed blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and plum, along with touches of spice and pepper. The acidity was juicy and did balance all that fruit. In our glasses, all of the tannins were integrated, but not sure how long the bottle was opened so a short decant may help. Paired very well with our Frenchie Burgers. Will definitely hold for several more years and is very attractive at its $18-24 price.
Personal note: This wine was head and shoulders above the Chat. La Nerthe CdR we had last week at Pastis.
