  • 2018 Aurélien Lurquin Champagne Les Milieux 94 Points

    France, Champagne

Organic viticulture. Single vineyard, a blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Petit Meslier, aged for 12 months in oak on the lees, disgorged 10 November 2022, zero dosage, 579 bottles produced. Voluptuous fruit, vinous but precise and elegant, lemon and jasmine, richness balanced by impressive minerally energy, quite full-bodied (13%), fleshy peachy texture, warmth from the wood, steely acidity, tightly wound, long and salty finish. Tension, contrast and harmony. Impressive.

  • 2019 Jean-Jacques Morel Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Blanc

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

Perfectly drinkable but muffled, lacks expression, does not shine. Probably low-level TCA. Not rated.

  • 2021 Domaine Philippe Chatillon Savagnin Les Nouvelles 94 Points

    France, Jura, Arbois

Marnes grises, organic viticulture, low intervention, no sulfur added. Exemplary Savagnin, deep and rich and honeyed nose, intense and lifted, almost like aged Saar Riesling, flowers and spices, woody and salty but flowing and elegant, tense and seamless, firm acidity, long and dreamy finish, layered and expansive. Stunning wine.
