Great dinner organised by auction house Baghera ahead of auction that will be held at the Chateau. Bottes spanning over a century will be released from the Chateau cellars having been reconditionned in some cases.
The take-ways were the marked additional aromatic complexity and precision that the wines from the 2010-2020 decade were showing. The recent vinatges (19,18) are really knocking on 1er Cru territory.
It is an estate that seems to have benefited from very steadfast and inspired leadership under Bruno Borie since 2003 and probably keeping with a vision for the identity of the Cru that was forged weel before that.
The wines largely escaped the caricatures of the 2000s showing neither overoaked nor overripe, the vintage coming closest being the 2009.
All in all very good wine-making and terroir very transparent to vintage charachter.
