Simi Wine Dinner

My wife and I got the opportunity to attend a wine dinner at Godai Sushi to taste offers from Simi winery. Each wine was served with a food course. The food was AMAZING!!

2006 Simi Sauvignon Blanc - light in color, nice citris taste. A good starter for the evening.

2006 Simi Russian River Valley Chardonnay Reserve - a beautiful golden color. Nice smooth texture. Good wine.

2005 Simi Sonoma County Merlot - medium color. A nice smoke flavor that lasted through the finish. Very easy to drink.

2004 Simi Landslide Vineryard Cabernet Sauvignon - dark color, good fruit on the nose; had a bit of chalk on the finish (which none of the others at my table noticed, so maybe just a bit drr - probably need some more air time). Easy to drink cab.

2005 Sonoma County Zinfandel - a nice zin. dark color, really smooth.

2007 Simi Alexander Valley Late Harvest Riesling - beautiful gold color, amazing fruit flavor. Easily my wine of the night. Very enjoyable!

All the wines were very good, but not spectacular. The Late Harvest Riesling was great! A great dinner at Godai.
