Introduction
This is always a highlight of the summer. Who doesn't love sitting out on the deck enjoying Rose's on a warm summer afternoon and evening. And it is all the better when you mix in a bunch rose Champagne. There was a great group of 30 or so with a lot of couples which always makes an even more fun evening. Great seeing everyone and sharing your culinary treats and wonderful wines. This was a rousing success again. And it was FINE! Thanks to Matt and Brenda for being such generous hosts.
NV Lanson Champagne Le Rosé Brut 91 Points

Light pink color. Small pour, from Magnum. Pretty impressive, and the mag format was nice. Nice verve, bright, cherry, cherry cream, stone. 91+pts.

2009 Pol Roger Champagne Brut Rosé 93 Points

Pale salmon color. Small pour. Starting to hit the sweet spot. Pretty red fruits, yeasty, strawberry shortcake, tart citrus, cherry, chalk, elegant.

Pale pink color. Small pour. Always a go to grower, these rarely fail to meet expectations. Pretty red berries, focused, floral, soft texture, bready, finessed.

NV Marie Demets Champagne Brut Rosé 92 Points

Medium salmon color. Small pour. Been a long time since having this. I really enjoyed it. Clearly a bigger style, but well balanced, nice berries, chalk, raspberry, spices, good acidity. I like the freshness and texture, very clean.

2007 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Rosé Brut 96 Points

Gorgeous burnt copper orange color. Drank a glass over 30 minutes. Oh this was simply delightful. It was all that. Wow nose and palate to match, a melange of red fruits; cherry, wild strawberry, earth and oyster shell, toasted, rose water, blood orange, exotic spices and a blissful creamy texture. Power and finesse with great length.

Pale pink color. Small pour. Lean, crisp, dried strawberry, actually rather juicy red fruits, citrus, limestone, peach. Enoyed this one a lot.

2016 Domaine de la Mordorée Tavel La Dame Rousse

Deep cherry color. Small pour. Last had this 3 years ago. Still shows some dark red fruits, ripe baked berries, orange peel. But time has left its mark as the fruit has faded and there is an alcohol burn now too. Drink'em if you got'em, but with low expectations.

Light salmon color. Small pour. There's a lot to like here. Lots of stony minerality, citrus, watermelon, very bright with lift and mouth watering acidity. 91+ to 92pts.

2018 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé 93 Points

Medium salmon color. Small pour. Wow, such energy and explosiveness on both the nose and palate. Stunning fruit, juicy, stone fruit, tropical fruit, brine, sea breezes, florals, layer upon layer. Drank this next to the '21 Domaine Ott which was equally engaging. A bottle a few days later was just slightly less vivid (92pts).

2017 Clos Cibonne Tibouren Côtes de Provence Château Cibon Cuvée Hommage à Marius 92 Points

Light salmon color. Small glass over 30 minutes. This is not your Daddy's Provencal Rose. This has got tremendous complexity and sophistication; a thought provoking wine for sure. It will not be everyone's cup of tea. The oxidative character is certainly there, particularly on the nose. Though I thought it faded to a significant extent. The palate seems to be brighter and still has a freshness. It is certainly mindful of a Lopez (LdH) Rose with the lacqueur and oxidation. Bold nose, oxidative, lacqueur, ripe strawberry, peach, honey, cherry liqueur, unique. The palate is bright and stony with the red fruits, apricot and nectarines, honey, and not really any oxidation here. There is some grip on the palate while still showing the purity and essence of Provence. Fascinating Spock.

2023 Ridge Rosé Lytton Estate 90 Points

Light-medium salmon orange color. Small glass. I like the nose a fair bit more than the palate. The nose is strawberry, watermelon, white peaches, with citrus notes. the palate shows a nuttiness, more tart, citrus, some tannic grip and just less finessed than the nose suggests. The nose drive the score here. I had hoped for a bit more.

2021 Domaines Ott Bandol Rosé Château Romassan 93 Points

Pale salmon color. Small glass over 30 minutes. Wow, this has that burst of Mistral wind on the nose, dried strawberry, red flowers, delicate minerality, amazing lift and inner perfume. The palate offers a vivid, fresh presentation, elegance, dried red berries, stone fruits, and slate minerality. This was my co-Rose of the night with the '18 Tempier. Gun to head, the Ott would get the nod today. 93+(+)pts.

Opened this up at the end of the night. PNP, drank a glass over 30 minutes. Showing pretty well already, especially with no air; earthy, soil, tart cherry, and minerals, the nose is more open at the moment; medium full bodied. Has a nice future . 92+(+)pts.
