Dinner then to K's place for housewarming
WOTN for me is Stella, then Montrose ~ Angélus > Figeac ~ Ponsot. But they are all excellent, and I would be happy to have any of these wines for a special occasion.
2003 Château Angélus 93 Points
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Tasted blind. Pop and pour, initially already ready to drink. More development ~ 2 more hours in bottle. With power and elegance. Almost like a reasonable vintage Cheval Blanc.

2000 Château Figeac 94 Points
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
Tasted blind. Pop and pour. Initially already ready to drink. More development with ~ 2 hours in bottle. Very classical right bank. First bottle of Figeac I tried, much exceeded expectation.

1993 Château Montrose 92 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe
Tasted blind. Pop and pour. Initially already guessed Montrose, but shifted my guess to 1st growth because of its vibrancy compare to its colour. Very four square. Can drink now, almost peak, ~5 more years potential.

2009 Domaine Ponsot Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Cuvée des Alouettes 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru
Pop and pour. Very decent burg, medium minus intensity of the cool mint nose. Slightly past peak now, drink up.

2010 Azienda Agricola San Giuseppe Brunello di Montalcino Stella di Campalto Riserva 94 Points
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Pop and pour. Initially not easy to approach, bottle decant.
After finishing another bottle of burg in around 1-1.5 hours, much more opened up.
So powerful that it is almost like a super tuscan. The flavour profile is still red fruit driven.
Still 5-10 more years potential at least.
Gift from B.
