Thomas Wines Braemore Semillon

• 2023 Andrew Thomas Wines Sémillon Braemore 92 Points

  Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

  Tasted alongside the 2017. Youthful with a lovely zesty zing to it and pleasing focus. Medium intensity nose of honeysuckle, orange blossom, grapefruit. Some peach and lemon. Dry, medium (+) acid, medium alcohol, medium length and palate intensity.

• 2017 Andrew Thomas Wines Sémillon Cellar Reserve Braemore 93 Points

  Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

  Very good, though it can be further aged. Medium intensity nose of avoocado, honeysuckle, dried lemon, white peach, and orange blossom. Med (+) body and a creamy texture in the mouth. Some toast, beeswax and grass,

• 2022 Andrew Thomas Wines Shiraz Elenay Barrel Selection 92 Points

  Australia, New South Wales, Hunter Valley

  Developing wine with nice freshness and a medium nose starting on bright red fruits: cherry, raspberry, plum. Some floral notes too; rose ad pot pourri, Nutmeg, with barnyard and wet leaves developing later. It's okay to drink now but might benefit from more time.

• 2018 Andrew Thomas Wines Shiraz Elenay Barrel Selection 93 Points

  Very enjoyable developing wine with nice freshness and a medium (+) nose starting on bright red fruits and adding cassis, black cherry, violets and rose. Oak related flavours coming through more strongly than the '22.tasted in the same flight. Delicious to drink now or cellar for longer.

• 2022 Andrew Thomas Wines Shiraz Sweetwater Individual Vineyard 92 Points

  Very good developing with a medium (+) nose, legs. Flavours on the black fruits side as opposed to the more red fruited Elenay Shiraz by the same producer. Clove, black pepper, raspberry and leather. Very well integrated medium (+) tannins. Dry with medium (+) finish.

• 2014 Andrew Thomas Wines Shiraz Sweetwater Individual Vineyard 94 Points

  My favourite wine of the 67 Pall Mall tasting. Smells divine; I think I could have sat there and took this in forever. Very floral with violets and roses. Sweet red fruits. Tobacco, leather, coconut wood, black cherry. Utterly seamless on the palate.

• 2022 Andrew Thomas Wines Shiraz Kiss 94 Points

  Of the Andrew Thomas flight being tasted the Kiss Shiraz is clearly the most 'serious' of wines and has the longest finish, and most pronounced intensity. At this young age, it came across a shy on the nose. Restrained dried blackberry. On the palate some red fruit coming though along with wonderfully integrated charred wood flavours. Fine tannin. Drinkable, but a baby. I preferred the aged Sweetwater Shiraz from his range. First world problem choosing between them.

  Of the Andrew Thomas flight being tasted the Kiss Shiraz is clearly the most 'serious' of wines. Very good. It's aged well, in this case being seamless and wonderfully integrated. High alcohol, long finish, and pronounced intensity. Dried blackberry. vanilla, black pepper and a hint of violet. Kirsch? Can drink now, but has potential for further ageing.
