    Chile, Casablanca Valley

    herbaceous, green capsicum, tinned pears, asparagus, slightly ashy notes. Medium plus intensity acidity, bitter, green flavours as per the nose. Meh

  • 2021 Bodega Catena Zapata Chardonnay Catena High Mountain Vines

    Argentina, Mendoza

    Cream, butter, a little stone fruit, sweet spice, tiny smoky back fat notes, and a little woody hardness. Juicy, tangy, fleshy, slightly bitter, a little short and the flavours are touch muted…Meh

  • 2022 Villard Estate Chardonnay Expresión Reserve

    Chile, Casablanca Valley

    Medium minus intensity aromas shows meaty notes, fresh herbs, citrus backed by sweet spice, a little mineral notes here as well. Medium plus intensity acidity, quite citrus; lemon, grapefruit, tangy, mid textured stoney burr rasps the tongue, non intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish, fruit doesn't really travel. Meh.

  • 2022 Matías Riccitelli Sauvignon Blanc Kung Fu Orange

    Medium minus intensity aromas are ashy with some passion fruit, touchy of wood glue, a little wild ferment funkiness. Sourly tart, sharp, slightly resinous/camphor notes. Short. Ugh

    Lightweight red hued fruits; cranberry, a little rhubarb, red currant, sour red cherry, smells a little dilute, wetly juicy on the palate, fruit is slightly muted, soft, silky tannic burr, a bit short.

  • 2022 Pedro Parra y Familia Cinsault Imaginador

    Chile, Itata Valley

    Earthy notes are slightly baked, spiced, lightly plummy fruit and brambles, mineral notes. Juicy, fleshy, savoury, tannins are drying and grippy, slightly coarse, persistent, flavours are quite muted, finishes a touch bitter. Time to integrate but meh today.

    Red plums, red currant, savoury over sweet spices; almost a little dusty Asian five spice, earthy. Juicy, fleshy, talc textured, fruit a little darker and less delineated on the palate. Hmm.

    Plummy, rich, sweet spice, slightly jubey underpin. Pretty nose. Juicy, fleshy, slightly bitter on the palate, nose better than mouth. Hmm.

  • 2019 Viña Marty Carménère Pirca

    Chile, Maule Valley

    Sweaty blackcurrant! Hello old friend, a little oaky spice, bramble, slightly floral top notes. In the mouth more of the same, slight wood glue, an odd sickly sweet note, ashy, tannins are a slightly grainy butt but in the background. Slight alcohol warmth. Meh.

  • 2022 Finca Las Moras Malbec Organico

    Argentina, San Juan

    Plums, prunes, raisins, simple nose shows a lot of baked fruit and a touch of sweet spice; clove/nutmeg. Wetly dilute on the palate, same flavour profile, super soft tannins, a little jubey plum lozenge on the finish. Simple. Short. Hmm.

  • 2021 Finca Las Moras Malbec Reserva

    Argentina, San Juan

    Jubey, plummy fruit, touch of sweet spice, slightly earthy underpin, tiny smidge of forest floor. Dense, plummy fruit has a slightly sweet core, tiny cocoa powder note, tannins are drying but silky textured. Good QPR at 15AUD

  • 2022 Finca Las Moras Malbec Alma Mora

    Argentina, San Juan

    Concentrated plums, prunes, a little blackberry, raisins, sweet spice. On the palate there is a touch of tomato leaf joining the plummy primary fruit. Alcohol lends minty freshness, tannins are not integrated, sitting away from the fruit slightly woody, drying. Out of whack. Meh.

    Chile, Maipo Valley

    Ashy, meaty, smoky, muted sweaty blackcurrant, earthy. Tannins are chalky and drying, sour fruit is showing red currant. Nah.

  • 2021 Bodega Catena Zapata Malbec Catena High Mountain Vines

    Argentina, Mendoza

    Plummy, fresh smelling, oak spice, offers a little vanilla, cocoa powder. Juicy, fleshy, plummy fruit, a little compote tends to the jammy, coarse flour textured tannins are integrated. Simple but pleasant.

  • 2019 Bodega Catena Zapata Malbec Angélica Zapata Alta

    Argentina, Mendoza, Valle de Uco

    Plum jam! A lick of vanilla, sweet spice shows some clove, nutmeg, cinnamon. Juicy, fleshy, fruit joining on the palate with a slightly savoury note, tannins are woody but talc textured and integrated. Primary but pleasant. Balanced.

    funky farmyard, plums, a little bramble, earthy, tomato leaf. Sour, bitter and unpleasant on the palate, pretty awful stuff. Ugh.

    Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo

    Rich, ripe plummy and pruney. Polished oak, chocolate, sweet spice. Rich and ripe on the palate, talc textured drying tannins, medium length. Hmm.

  • 2021 Matías Riccitelli Malbec Viejos Viñedos En Pie Franco

    Argentina, Mendoza

    Plummy fruit a little earthy note, touch of spice, simple nose. Juicy, dense, concentrated plummy fruit has a little sour freshness, tannins are super persistent, long, rather nice but not as nice as the Tinto de la casa.

Closing

Oh dear, this wasn't very good. All the whites were pretty average, the reds not much better with a few exceptions. How disappointing.
