The Mike Grammer Tour Comes to Jersey City, 12 bottles, 6 people

Mike came to town from Toronto and we went themeless, which was a fun way to get lots of different types of bottles on the table. SoulFlavors was in the midst of Restaurant Week, so we got a deal on the whole evening. I recommend it highly for an OL.

These notes are bad because the conversation and food were good! It's a skeleton, though. I hope the others will fill in the gaps. Pleasure to meet you, Mike. Thanks for planning, Jay.

• 2005 Domaine Comte Peraldi Ajaccio Comte De Poix

  Translucent dark watermelon color, earthy, funky, cow pasture on the nose so strong that it was hard to get past in order to taste the wine. No fruit.

  I was disappointed. I opened this too early. The hour and 45 minute decant couldn't help proper aging. Lots of alcohol. Downright hot. After an hour, there was more fruit, but that's relative. This wasn't ready.
