Flight 1 (7 Notes)

  • 1995 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Stood up and decanted off 1oz of well-settled sediment. Medium-deep ruby with age-appropriate bricking; aromatic, forest floor, mature black fruits, tobacco, pine needles; palate is full bodied, exceptional balance with medium-plus acidity, fully integrated tannin, mature black fruit; medium length finish. A lovely bordeaux, now at full maturity and will drink well at peak for the next 5+ years. 92-93
With air this has fleshed out a bit more, lovely balance and even youthful instead of entering maturity. Enjoyable, with perhaps more life than I thought. Drink over 10 years… 93

Taste after a few days open. Youthful ruby-purple color; high intensity aromatics, stony gravel, plums, black currant, exceptional nose; palate is full bodied, richly textured but smooth tannins, black fruits; finish is medium length. The nose is quite exceptional here. 95+ nose, palate balanced but not as complex. 93 overall.
