  • 1947 Argyros Vinsanto

    Greece, Aegean, Cyclades, Santorini

cask sample drawn for the wine fair
The wine shows more oxidative notes than the 1974 tasted right before (obviously !!!!). There is a quite different profile, going more on the brine/soy sauce in teh back. You also have all the black fruit you want, prunes, plums, black currants and cherries, roasted malt notes, coffee notes, molasses.
Palate showing great structure, again soy sauce, overripe to dried black fruit, black cherry jam, fine balance, smoekd and toasted notes, burnt sugar.
Amazing strength and structure, raisins and prunes adding layers in the wine, who knows the RS levels here but they are in tune with the rest of the elements. Some VA hints but who bloody cares ?? Mocca and milk chocolate infused great length.
Outstanding quality, another opportunity to support my claim that Argyros makes certainly the finest Vinsanto but also one the finest dessert wines in the world
