fresh, juicy smelling, touch of grapefruit, a little green fruit and is juicy fleshy on the palate, generous, charming, slightly silky textured. Relatively short and simple but nice

2023 Schloss Gobelsburg Riesling Urgestein

Waxed lime, slight lemon. Simple nose. Juicy, fleshy, broad, dense, similar fruit profile, again a little short but quite blocky. Non intrusive alcohol warmth. Tangy. Interesting

2021 Hiedler Grüner Veltliner Thal

slight kerosene, green notes, Kaffir lime leaf. Fleshy rather than juicy, broad, almost a little warm and clumsy. Lacks freshness. Meh.

Very slight petrol notes. A little lime, apple. Medium plus intensity acidity, leesy cheesy noes, meaty, slight green apple, lime, touch of apple skin bitterness on the finish and a smidge of textured burr. Hmm

2021 Weingut Hirsch Riesling Zöbing

Lime, slightly herbaceous, simple notes, touch of minerality. Medium plus intensity acidity, tangy, lime is the most dominant citrus characteristic here, silky texture grabs at the front of the mouth. Hmm.

Medium minus intensity aromas of green noes, very slight grapefruit. Juicy, fleshy, tangy, citrus driven but quite non delineated, mid palate breadth, mouth coating, touch of bitterness. Medium plus length. Hmm.

2017 Weingut Hirsch Riesling Zöbinger Heiligenstein

Struck flint, lime, mineral on the nose. Rich, dense and complex on the palate; it has the palate weight of a grosses gewachs; a sense of breadth and power, feels like lees work, powerful with some alcohol warmth. Okay.

2021 Franz Strohmeier Chardonnay Trauben, Liebe und Zeit Gelb 8

Savoury, earthy, wild ferment funkiness, citrus notes show lemon and mandarin. Juicy, citrus again, fleshy, savoury and tangy, bitter on the finish with a touch of texture.

2021 Franz Strohmeier Trauben, Liebe und Zeit Weiss 12

Richer than the straight chardonnay but with a mineral and rocky underpin, touches of sweet spice. Richer on the palate as well , a little hoppy herbaceous note, soft burr, those mineral notes are here as well, slight stone fruit but more in the food wine space for me.

Waxy, slightly buttery, muted stone fruit on the nose. Juicy, tangy, crunchy fruit, softly burr, travels long. Simple but balanced and rather lovely.

Medium minus intensity of fresh strawberries. Sharp acidity means that these strawberries are pretty tart on the palate and it's quite dilute cordial from a flavour intensity perspective. Nah.

Dark cherry, savoury notes, meaty and leathery notes. Juicy, beautiful fresh cherry fruit is black with a little sourness, super tangy, silky tannins. Long, lovely

NV Franz Strohmeier Blauer Wildbacher Trauben, Liebe und Zeit Rot 10

Plummy and meaty, savoury, a little sour cherry and sweet spice. Juicy, tangy, concentrated, chewy mineral tannins, very slightly hoppy herbaceous notes join the black hued fruits. Interesting.

Creamy, almost nutty; like almond meal, over muted citrus. Rich, honeyed, tangy, rich, tight, dense, long, grippy, very powerful. Cracking stuff.

Medium minus intensity aromas are savoury with muted fruit that is slightly green hued. Juicy but quite muted and a little flat on the palate, lacks pop. Hmm. At this age I'm going to say FLAW - no way this is meant to be like this.

Lime, waxy notes, lactic underpin; lees work? Medium plus acidity is slightly tart, lime again but with some crisp green apple notes, a touch of bitter skins, tangy, Alcohol warmth intrudes on the finish. Lots going on but not for me.

Grapefruit, a little lime, mineral notes. Tangy, fleshy, similar citrus but the alcohol warmth is a little off-putting. Finishes with some minerally salinity and a touch of bitterness. Bit out of whack.

Sour black cherries married to pretty floral top notes on the nose. In the mouth it's savoury, juicy, dense dark fruits, tight tannic grip is talc textured, persistent. A sense of concentration. Very good.

Slightly green, skin contact lends a cidery note, a touch of herbaceousness. Sharp acidity, sour and saline, textured grip tugs at the tongue but is super silky…an impression of 'green' from a flavour perspective. Meh

Meaty, savoury, creamy notes, a little woody almost cedar notes and some stone fruit. On the palate it's juicy, tangy, the right side of sour, leesy textured, a little skin contact also helps the textual component. Non intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish. Interesting...nice
