Had absolutely no doubt in my mind this was Fourrier on first sip, guessed ‘19 because of the similarities to what I tasted in HK earlier this year. When revealed to be older, I said ‘15 because I felt that it was from a warm but not dense year. Candied, crunchy red fruit that made the wine immediate and attractive. Many others liked this a lot but I preferred the deeper and more soulful Arnoux alongside, this was too airy if that makes sense.

Guessed Vosne because of the dark, spicy fruit, thought it was from a cooler year because this was quite integrated and restrained. Surprised it was a ‘05 because of its un-tannic nature; had a masculine edge to its refined, velvet texture that gave the wine depth. Seamless with layered fruit, a very complete wine and my favourite of the night.
My contribution. Lost most of its colour at this age, had vivacity in acidity but not fruit. Gained energy and got better with air, but didn’t have sufficient fruit to carry the acid structure which made it seem thinned out.
Immediately said '09 Vosne, upon confirmation I guessed the producer because I knew the cellar of the friend who generously brought this. Dense, warm fruit clearly from an overtly warm vintage, but was well-balanced by the silky and refined tannins. Gained elegance and harmony with air, most impressive finish of the wines on show. My second favourite of the night.

Almost nailed this, my first instinct was '11 Dugat-Py. A masculine wine with some spicy, rustic fruit; tannins and alcohol were present without being over-the-top (hence the cool vintage guess). Some smokiness and sous bois emerged with air, a pleasant surprise that it was not as large-scaled as I expected.

Knew the identity of the wine so didn't guess. High-toned aromatics, with light, pretty raspberry fruit. Pleasant but the spiciness and acidity dominated; the wine didn’t have enough body for it to be balanced.
Clearly rich old-school Meursault with its generous oak, guessed 2010 because of the sweetness of fruit. When revealed to be 2019 I thought it was very similar to the 2020 Pierre Morey Tessons that I had last week - no reduction, balanced despite its large scale, but unlikely to make old bones?
Thought '19 Leflaive Puligny. So linear and precise with prominent spice and salinity. New-school vertical tension without losing its character and complexity (some new-school whites have a tendency to be anonymous). A wow wine.

Brought for a friend. Slightly richer and riper than I expected for the vintage and the producer; more tropical than citrus that made it almost more PYCM-like than CM. Nice salinity but a hint of 2021 greenness on the finish. Good to go now, no need to wait.

Knew the identity of this wine, friend brought this because she got confused by the theme. Surprisingly approachable for a 2022 with ripe floral, slightly tropical fruit. Some woody spice, and a cotton-candy note which divided opinions. Agree with someone who said that the mid-palate was lacking with a clipped finish.
