Introduction

There are few things in this world better than the company of good friends. And when that copany also offers dinner and wine - who can argue that Paradise is not to be found on the planet? :)

Doug, Reme - thanks so much guys - both Svetlana and I had a perfect evening after a very long and stressfull day. oh - almost forgot - notes! :)

Flight 1 (2 Notes)

  • 1998 C. H. Berres Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese 89 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

spicy apples on the nose announce the vinyard. honey and a touch of petrol here as well with almost an "Earl Grey" tea note. good acidity topped with yellow apples and a touch of red berries, pine needles come in on the nose with some time. finish is tart and spicy but a bit short. very pleasant wine ...

  • 2004 L'Oustal Blanc (Isabel et Claude Fonquerle) Minervois 91 Points

    France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Minervois

the bottle shows 14% alc. but WA note suggests over 15%... very modern wine - raspberry jam, preserves, flowers but the body is more rerserved than the nose suggests, with red berries and a good backbone. it is a touch hot though, and for those who do not like grenache - the slight bitterness/herbiness on the back palate is here. with time the wine shows more tobacco and gets more balanced. not my type but a very well ade wine that perhaps needs more tie to come into its own.
