Not familiar with this cuvee but wow what a gorgeous wine. Perfectly balanced oak use that gave it a full mouthfeel; expansive white orchard fruit with terrific persistence.

  • 2020 Domaine Sylvain Pataille Marsannay Rosé Fleur de Pinot 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Marsannay Rosé

Quite a bit of funk and nail polish on the nose. Wild, medicinal strawberry on the palate, quite structured and serious for a rose (I guessed Poulsard). Intellectual but not the most pleasurable wine.

  • 2015 Yvon Métras Fleurie 92 Points

    France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie

Guessed Bojo but didn't land on Metras. Wasn't as explosive as the last bottle I had; more stemmy and dark fruit here. Serious depth that made this a crowd favourite.

  • 2018 Domaine Sylvain Pataille Marsannay Clos du Roy 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Marsannay

Guessed impressive Burgundy. Dark and slightly spicy, crunchy fruit that I love in his reds, fine and precise tannins. Fantastic restraint for '18. Slightly brooding now so would give this a few more years.

  • 2016 Daniel Gomez Jimenez Landi Méntrida Cantos del Diablo 88 Points

    Spain, Castilla-La Mancha, Méntrida

Guessed new-school Burgundy but when revealed to be Grenache could only be the Comando G family. Rather bretty with tart cherry fruit, as usual my complaint with their wines is that they are too airy and lack definition.

  • 2014 Château des Tours Côtes du Rhône Reserve 86 Points

France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône

Was told that this was a CdP so wasn't difficult to identify. Signature candied nose, juicy but excessively sweet fruit on the palate. Agree with previous notes that alcohol was also obtrusive.
