Introduction

Representative of Chateau Montrose: Ms. Elodie Chabot

Flight 1 (2 Notes)

  • 2019 Château Tronquoy-Lalande Blanc 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux

Nose shows citrus, lemon zest, flowers, and leafy notes. Full-bodied, medium plus acidity, a little sweetness, with notes of oak barrel. Finish is medium long and a little linear. A special white wine in Bordeaux, but not that out-standing.

  • 2011 Château Tronquoy-Lalande 87 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

Still fresh, to my surprise . Black fruit and peppery notes in nose. Tannin is not that refined. A little linear and thin on the palate. Finish is simple and short. No obvious fault.

Flight 2 (2 Notes)

  • 2015 Château Montrose La Dame de Montrose 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

Nose shows black fruit, dried herbs, and some earthy notes. Full-bodied, refined tannin. More accessible than 2019. Acceptable finish. Totally agree with previous note: no fault, but flat.

  • 2019 Château Montrose La Dame de Montrose 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

Nose is a little closed. Tannin is still tight but refined. I think this wine need more air and more time in the bottle. Not bad, but just not as expressive as 2015 la dame next to it.

Flight 3 (3 Notes)

  • 2005 Château Montrose 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

Comparing to the bottle I tasted last yea, I would say this wine evolves in the right direction. The tannin softened, the acidity mellowed, and the tertiary aroma emerged in the past 1 year. Nose shows cassis, cigar, smoke, and earthy notes. Medium to full-bodied, with velvety tannin. Long finish. It still has a lot of life ahead.

  • 2014 Château Montrose 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

Black fruit with prominent floral notes. Medium to full body, with grippy tannin. Unlike many 2014 Bordeaux red wine I have tasted, the tannin is not overpowering its fruit. Medium to long finish. It’s drinkable now, but still too young. 93+

  • 2017 Château Montrose 93 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Saint-Estèphe

I am surprised by its accessibility but it is still too young to show the true potential. Young and primary, with black fruit, red fruit, and notes of rose pedals. Medium+ body, refined but grippy tannin. Medium to long finish. A good wine in a difficult vintage.
