First white wine tasted at UVA Mira Mountain Vineyards from their Mira Series. This bottling is made up of 100% Sauvignon Blanc from the highest vineyard on the property and on the Helderburg Mountain slopes.
Light greenish yellow. Tropical nose with guava, pineapple, lemongrass and a touch vegetal on the back-end with asparagus. Fresh and crisp palate with medium plus acidity (6.5/10) and light bodied. A little bit of grass underneath the pineapple, melon and cleanliness. Long finish. Drink till 2021.
Second white wine tasted at UVA Mira Mountain Vineyards from their Mira Series. This bottling is made up of 100% Chardonnay on the Helderburg Mountain slopes. Aged for nine months in 30% new French oak barrels.
Light greenish golden yellow. Oak definitely comes through on the nose with some buttery elements and marzipan. Hiding the fruit a bit. Medium acidity (6.5/10) with a medium minus body. Less oak influence on the palate with some citrus zest and stone fruits too. Medium plus finish with acidity holding on. Drink till 2021.
