Roni, Yossi & Yaron each brought a red wine bottle with a tasty dish
We enjoyed a lovely social evening with somewhat less than expected red wines but a great white and dessert wine, and lots of good food.
2007 George et Claude Freyburger Altenberg de Bergheim 94 Points
France, Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru
Med orange-amber
Notes of ripe stone fruits such as apricot and peach, along with hints of honey, dried fruits (like figs or raisins), dry bitter apricot, secondary aromas of beeswax.
Rich and full-bodied texture, with flavors mirroring the nose: ripe stone fruits, citrus peel, honey. good acidity, which balances the sweetness and gives the wine a long, clean finish.
The finish is long, with lingering notes of fruit, honey, and minerality, reflecting the complexity and depth that come from the Grand Cru status and the age of the wine.
Excellent complexity. Better drink now than age further.
