Bread yeast, slightly cherry, brioche, massive foamy, frothy mousse, touch of bitterness, texture mid palate. Meh

2013 Forlorn Hope Sémillon Nacre
USA, California, Napa Valley
Served blind.
Candy floss, lemon zest, candied orange. Juicy withouth being overly acidic, fruit forward without being a fruit bomb, then bitterness, alcohol warmth joins on the slight short finish.

2003 SmithLeigh Vineyard Sémillon Old Vine Reserve

a little herbaceous, meaty note, apply, slight butter and honey on the nose with a tiny touch of lemon peel. In the mouth the wine has medium plus intensity acidity, butter, apple and a little texture.
I guessed Hunter Semillon 2005

2011 Bouchot-Ludot Chablis
France, Burgundy, Chablis
Served blind.
Butter, muted fruit, with agitation a tiny stalky note blows off to show struck match and peach. Medium plus intensity acidity, slight struck match on the palate as well with butter, cream, touches of lees, slight non-intrusive alcohol warmth and a tiny touch of bitterness on the finish.
I guessed Chablis 2015

2013 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay Art Series

Tropical fruit and peaches, a little cream, plenty of oak, sweet spice. In the mouth it has medium puls intensity acidity, tropical fruit, alcohol warmth, very slight leesy/buttery notes. Big and a bit out of whack for me.

2018 Dr Edge Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountains

Red berry and cherry, defo whole bunch on the nose. Juicy with medium plus intensity acidity, lovely tannic grip, again whole bunch and red berry and cherry, slight alcohol warmth.
I guessed Pinot Noir from the Yarra Valley, 2018.

1980 Penfolds BIN 80A Coonawarra

Ripe, black plummy fruit, leather, slight sour underpin, oak, cream and the tiniest smidge of cork taint. In the mouth it's savoury and juicy, lashings of tannic grip, leathery black hued fruit. Fairly monolithic.

Leather, slightly sour blackcurrant and berries, spcied, bit of farmyard, earth, Autumnal as well as alcohol warmth. A little sweet spice. wetly, black fruited leather, fully resolved tannins.
I guessed 1995 Victorian Cabernet or Cabernet Shiraz blend.

2016 Trénel Fils Juliénas Les Capitans

Slightly sour but also jubey blackberry, very slight smoky notes, earthy with aniseed...that aniseed note is also on the palate with savoury black berry that has a slight fruit sweet core, lashings of drying, extracted tannins that close down the palate.
I guessed French, Languedoc Rousillon southern rhone blend with a bit of Carignan from 2016

2018 Bruno Rocca Dolcetto d'Alba Vigna Trifolé

Plums with a slightly sour underpin. Smells' juicy' and so it proves on the palate, with plentiful talc textured tannins, slightly sour plummy notes.

2018 Maverick Wines Shiraz The Maverick

Slightly volatile, cherry, slightly meaty notes, a touch of herbaceousness. In the mouth it is juicy with medium plus intensity acidity, a little black tea, cherry, alcohol warmth, chalky tannins, fruit persists.

2013 Keet First Verse

slightly herbaceous notes accompany blackcurrant, cherry, cream and sweet spice. In the mouth it's juicy and savoury with non-intrusvie alcohol warmth, pretty fruit, polished oak, slight herbaeoues notes, blackcurrant. Nice.

2017 Brokenwood Tempranillo

Pretty cherry over berry, tomato leaf, jubey underpin, slight volatlie acidity, rhubarb. In the mouth it's juicy with plenty of alcohol, similar fruit profile and fairly soft tannins.
I had no idea what this was so plumped for an entry level NZ Pinot from Waipara from 2018

2013 Mount Majura Tempranillo

Volatile, red cherry, sweet spcie, alcohol heat, American oak. Medium plus intensity acidity, tannic burr, alcohol...similar fruit and oak profile on the palate.
Again this one left me fairly stumped so I went for NZ or US Pinot Noir 2015

2010 Cesari Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Bosan

Aromas of cherry, plain chocolate, slight sour note. Fresh on the palate with a little sweet spcie, cherry, juicy acidity, lovely tannic grip the mid palate, a little chocolate here as well but plain and quite controlled.
I guessed Riserva Valpolicella 2015. I was surprised how elegant this was as an Amarone.

Ripe, sweet smelling, black fruit that are fairly extracted and a little anonymous, sweet spice, slight vanilla. In the mouth it's juicy with plentiful ripe black fruit, alcohol heat, talc textured tannins.
I guessed Barossa Shiraz 1999 but under screwcap.

2007 Chris Ringland Shiraz Hoffmann

Initially aromas of slightly sour red cherry married to blackberry, peppery notes, slight prunes as well (oddly). Juicy with ridiculous alcohol levels - positively porty - feels like there is some residual sugar here as well, talc textured tannins, long. Big boy Shiraz. No prisoners taken.
The red notes made me think of Victoria, but Shiraz, 2003, under screwcap.
