Flight 1 (2 Notes)

  • 2021 Domaine de Montbourgeau L'Etoile "5 étoiles" 91 Points

    France, Jura, L'Etoile

Chardonnay. Light golden; aromatic, pear, quince, white flowers; palate is full bodied, medium-plus acidity throughout, some minerality, some white flowers, non-oxidative, balanced 13% alcohol; medium length finish. Really stellar chardonnay that would easily complete with burgundy at the $50+ price point. 91
With some air, this evolves and develops even more complexity with some more pear, some melon, excellent depth. 91-92

  • 2008 Alessandro e Gian Natale Fantino Barolo Riserva Bussia Cascina Dardi 95 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Stood up and decanted off 2oz sediment. Light ruby, color as expected for mature Barolo; intense aromatics with strawberry, roses, some tamari; palate is light bodied, elegant red fruits, high tannins are well balanced, balanced 14% alcohol, wonderful elegance and florals; long finish. 2008 is one of my favorite vintages, and this is my best bottle of this yet. Also my last. 94-95
