Introduction

Main Sept. 2024 Pairing, provided as optional ($45) addition, to main multi-course tasting menu ($95/pp). Pairings are one of two options per stage, starting with appetizers and second course ("Mezze"), followed by main, and finally dessert.

Flight 1 - Initial courses (1 Note)

First wine of the evening, provided as one of two options (mostly depending upon appetizer section), going into the second course ("Mezze").

  • 2021 Tabor Adama Barbera Rosé 84 Points

    Israel, Galilee

Nice and easy drinking. Pairs well with a variety of foods. Some structure, nice aroma and taste. Moderate-minis concentration with a fairly short finish. Nice and decent QPR, but fairly unremarkable. Part of a multi-course meal, as the first wine pairing (various Mediterranean appetizers), with good company.

Flight 2 - Main (1 Note)

Second wine, provided as one of two options. This option was for the more substantial entrees, provided optionally for the entire table (as opposed to the other side of the menu, with another pairing, for selecting one of four individual entree options).

  • 2020 Vitkin Grenache Galia by Zahav 86 Points

    Israel, Galilee

Nice and easy drinking, yet with some structure and fairly high acid. Pairs well with a variety of foods. Nice aroma and taste, with notes of red fruit and some complexity, including a slightly interesting finish of moderate length. Moderate concentration Part of a multi-course meal, as the second wine pairing (main course), with good company.

Flight 3 - Dessert (1 Note)

Final dessert wine. Dessert is a selection of (both of) two main dishes, plus an additional (complimentary, unlisted) interesting sorbet. You can select one of two dessert wines, and I chose this one.

  • NV Dandelion Vineyards Pedro Ximénez Legacy of Australia 94 Points

Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley

Extraordinary. Complex aroma and taste. Notes of black fruits, exotic spices, chocolate, and more. Hints of intriguing graphite on a quite long finish. Gorgeous colour and nicely heavy concentration. A beautiful wine. Paired well with a variety of desserts. Part of a multi-course meal, as the final wine pairing (various Mediterranean desserts), with good company.

Closing

A really nice evening, with exceptional food and wine. Nice pairings and presentation, often chosen from interesting Israeli (or other foreign) locales. That said, unlike some premium pairings, there was no distinct sommelier nor detailed wine discussions.
