It has been a good 2 years since we had this last ( Papies 93) and how lovely to have it again. A wine we have long ago fell in love with bought a fait share to age as it was clear then as it is now that this ( and a few of its Kin mini super cuvées from Santorini) would age gracefully akin to top end 1er Cru Chablis. Ever so alive, bright still, energetic, light waxy edge, flinty and with a mix of citrus and stone fruits on the palate. Lovely to see it evolving, polishing as it goes along and just a magical experience. An easy 93-94 and what a magical wine
Probably at peak now and what a lovely surprise here. 3 beautiful Magnums all so consistent. Elegant, well mannered soft but not light or simple and just delivers . Ever the beautiful wine, well evolved, good secondary elements and just is as silky as it it’s beautiful . Easy 91
From beautiful magnums, 5 in total very consistent. Fresh still , surprisingly so, a touch dry but ever so lovely with nice dried cherries and a purity . Touch one dimensional at times but still ever the beautiful wine and for their entry level just delivers ever so nicely. This is an arbitrage of quality vs price during generous vintages as the extra ripeness of fruit makes up for the dryness on the palate. Very pretty 89
We were unlucky with 2 corked bottles from the batch but the 4 healthy ones were just ever so pretty. Well secondary, earthy, silky, well round but still very much healthy and alive. Often Barbaresci dry out with age but this is still very much the polished little number. Easy 90 and so good.
6 very consistent bottles and these dazzled our event. At a proper age now, well aged but still very much on the fruit and alive, secondary enough to another dimension but in no way tired and frankly this easily has another 10 very good years ahead. A very solid 92-93 and just delicious now
