An exciting producer whose name came up several times when asked to identify who is an upcoming producer to watch. First release had only 1 cuvee, A mi-chemin, his second release had 3 more cuvee (1 one off).
Understand the hype and attention after this tasting. There is a mark improvement in the cuvee after just 2 releases, would not be surprise if the quality continues to improve if Mother Nature delivers. Definitely a producer to keep an eye on.

NV Girard-Bonnet Champagne Grand Cru À mi-chemin 92 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
V19, 100% C, 50% Le Mesni sur Oger, 50% Oger, blend of 2018 and 2019, 2g/l, disgorged Oct 2022, slight oxidative notes, nutty, good precision on the palate but lacks a little acid with slight smokey notes. After a year in the bottle, this was more expressive compared to a year ago. An indication they need more bottle age.

V21, 100% C, 2021 base with reserve wines, dosage 2g/l, disgorged 21 Feb 2024, coming after the V19, this was brighter and fresher with excellent precision. Layered on the palate with good depth with green apple and peach, expansive, excellent length. The improve in quality is obvious here.

2018 Girard-Bonnet Champagne Premier Cru Recueil Extrait No 1 94 Points
France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
Apparently a 1 off release, 100% C, 50% Le Mesnil sur oger, 50% Oger old vines, 1.5g/l, disgorged 11 Dec 2023, Explosive aroma of brioche, orange peel, almonds, slightly flabby on the palate. If the acid were more prominent, this would be a winner. Nevertheless still an excellent sparkling.
