Really nice nose with notes of cherries, olives, a hint of brine, violets, red berries, and forest. Good acidity with quite a bit of tannins on the palate, flavors of dark cherries, black olives, and forest floor. Nice finish. My favorite out of these wines by a small margin, perhaps because it feels the most Northern Rhone to me.
Nice nose with notes of savory, olives, dark cherries, a hint of smoke, and earth. Quite refined on the palate with very smooth tannins, good acidity, and flavors of violets, dark cherries, and more olive / savory notes. Nice finish. Slightly bigger wine compared to the rest but feels a bit more "classic Syrah" to me. My one criticism may be that it's a tad too polished.
Pretty nose on the brighter and more red fruiter spectrum. Dried flowers, maybe a hint of roses, cherries, and savory on the nose. Nice acidity with relatively low tannins on the palate and similar flavors compared to the nose. Good finish. I quite like this wine, it's quite beautiful with good complexity. Maybe a bit more tannic structure could help it age longer, but right now it's drinking really well.
Pretty nose that feels like the most refined of these wines. Floral, with violets, cherries, and a bit of savory notes on the nose. Good acidity with integrated yet drying tannins, velvety mouthfeel, and flavors of dark cherries, a hint of olives, and bacon. Nice finish. Quite a serious wine and really well made.
By far the lightest of the 2014 Halcon vineyard Syrahs. More red cherry leaning flavors, pepper, and violets on the nose. Good acidity with similar flavors and a nice finish. A pretty wine, but on the quite light and red fruited side of Syrah.
The most fruit forward and perhaps simple of the 2014 Halcon vineyard Syrahs. Some dark cherries and violets on the nose. Good acidity with quite a bit of tannic structure on the palate with savory driven notes. Paled a bit in comparison to the other wines, although it's still well made and good quality, just not as exciting.
