Introduction
Claudio had a group of us over to drink some wine & watch the great air display put on by planes over Lake Michigan. We focused on mixing up some various Cali grapes.

Light but crackery, break-strong nose. Light crema, smooth lemon and other soft citrus tastes with a medium finish.

NV Domaine Carneros Cuvée de la Pompadour Brut Rosé 87 Points

Smells of pear & grapefruit peel. Tastes of melon, slight pear and has great crema. Very nice all throughout but the finish is just a little less than I'd hoped for.

I see Steve Jones owns this wine...and he shared with me & others! Hints of moss, little bit of dark fruit, some light cherries. Smooth, basic but good fruit flavor, supple tannins with good balance. Plenty there to make this a very good wine.

Good strawberry, dry cedar, dark fruit. Dry, short finish but good balance of fruit with what seems like some wood. Stays smooth without being watery.

Lots of great purple / dried red fruits on the nose, light hints of dark wood..an interesting nose given the variety of fruits. Smooth mouthfeel, great red fruits, slight / well done oak, medium tannins and good length on the finish. Really very nice.

Decanted for 1.5 hours, then mostly sat open in bottle for 2-2.5 hours before I drank.
Some asphalt, leather, flowers all mixed together on the nose with some dark fruits--just beautiful nose. Tasting brings on that with a hint of wood and decent body. Finish brings interesting spice, hangs for a while and turns to dark fruit. Great balance

Interesting nose, but hard to pick things out--kinda plummy, maybe some red cherry? Palate of bright fruit but a slightly astringent taste. Short / ok finish is a little dusty but enjoyable.

Plum & blueberry nose, slightly stemmy hint. Good fruit & mouthfeel, basic, ok finish...not sweet but kinda fakeish dark fruit flavors. Good grip on it though. Not bad at all, but not overly impressive.

Classic plum & dark fruit nose, good feeling in the mouth with some herbs here & there. Finish is rich and highlighted by herbs & spice. Does everything very well with enough extra interesting highlights to be outstsanding.

Grapey, old plum nose--interesting & good but not pleasant. Thin & light front end with a so so finish that is also light. Good but light flavors and a basic nose. This was later in the tasting, but I just didn't get much from it.

Leather/wood/dry cherry on the nose & palate. Good finish with some oak (vanilla) that was also on the palate. Finish hangs nicely with good tannins & pretty good balance.
