Flight 2. Bursting out of the gates in super flamboyant style. Bouquet dominated by flint, white flowers, yellow peaches and apricots. Palate is exotic, flamboyant, rich and broad - this is clearly grand cru quality and intensity, good concentration. This continues to open up in glass, unfurling more and more layers of fruit, heft and intensity. Is this your typical chevalier montrachet with laser like precision? No not really but damm is this delicious! Is this a little too young today? Maybe, but damm is this delicious!

Flight 2. Relative to the Jadot, this was a little tight and toned down, needing some time to really open up but when it did, this presented more tropical with starfruit, creme, chrysanthemum flowers dominant on the bouquet with touch of lychee, toasty sesame, spices and almonds on the palate. Still way too young today but this had good precision. This didn't drink like Raveneau though - this did not have typical intensity and concentration.

Flight 3. Need to preface that this was quintessentially burgundy - everything you want on the bouquet and palate. First white flowers, white peaches, jasmine and straw hit you on the nose with such purity and clarity of fruit followed by opulence and minerality on the palate with power and intensity. There is good precision and focus here amidst all the power that culminates in a super long and lasting finish.

Flight 3. Another one of those Leflaive bottles where its between premoxed and nicely matured. Bouquet dominated by red dates, yellow peaches, hazelnuts and chalk. There is a good sense of muscle on the palate in terms of heft and density but unfortunately this should have been showing way fresher.
Second time having this and remarkably different from the first.

Flight 4. Bouquet of yellow flowers, peaches, pears, and starfruit, accented by a touch of salinity, with purity of fruit and freshness. Palate marked by strong intensity, showing excellent concentration and density that creates presence. This is vibrant and precise, with superb balance between fruit and structure. High acidity on the finish adds a crisp edge, culminating in a long finish. This is frankly a touch youthful for me today because I know how much greater this can be.

Flight 5. First time trying this cuvee and stoked to have tried it! Bouquet opens with some savouryness - cashew nuts, peanut skin come to mind, with a hint of salinity, balanced by notes of starfruit, lemon rind and grapefruit. On the palate, this wine exudes both power and purity, with good intensity and precision - emphasizing clarity over opulence. There is crisp acidity and layers of complexity here that drive a lengthy and focused finish that lingers on full of vibrancy and elegance.

Flight 6 as a single: Decanted for 2 hours. Bouquet opens up with serious weight and depth, white flowers, sudachi, almond skin and pears come to the fore. Nice and creamy mid-palate here and there is surely promise of purity and elegance in the years to come - however, I thought this to be slightly clunky and awkward today.

Flight 7. Picked up this birth-year vintage earlier this year, with M generously offering his 1992 Leflaive Pucelles to pair. Upon opening, this was in great shape, with a bouquet of honeysuckle, orange rind, bruised apples, and pine nuts. Palate displayed good depth, with mango skin, raw papaya, blood orange and grapefruit amidst layers of complexity and richness. There was still some tension between the fruit and the wine’s structure, with sufficient acidity and balance and made this really memorable.

Flight 7. I thought the Jadot was impressive until I tasted the Leflaive. As they say, old really is gold, and older Leflaives have a depth and expansiveness that’s hard to match with the newer vintages. Bouquet unfolds beautifully with manuka honey, pomelo, orange rind, and a subtle touch of sesame. On the palate, pomelo, grapefruit and surprisingly potato skin comes to the fore, with pitch-perfect balance, concentration, and intensity. The purity and intensity here after 32 years are just on another level—every layer seems effortlessly integrated, with such refinement and presence, making this a clear standout.

Bouquet opens with deep black fruit, cherry stems, and a touch of pencil shavings, hinting at its complexity and precision. On the palate, it’s youthful but brimming with power, showing layers of depth and structure that promise to evolve for decades. It feels like a stubborn teenager—full of potential, yet holding back some of its greatness for the future. This is a wine with a long life ahead, but already showcasing pedigree.

2013 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc 93 Points
France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
First flight. Off the bat, bouquet showing pretty tropical with chrysanthemum, pineapples and starfruit. Palate also performing well in the same regard with honey, grass and hazelnuts. Texturally, I thought this was viscous with high fruit concentration with some power but the grassy undertones somehow put forth a leaner finish - thought this was a sauv blanc from the likes of old school dagueneau but clearly wrong!

2019 Gantenbein Chardonnay 93 Points
Switzerland, Eastern Switzerland, Graubünden, Fläsch
First flight. Noticeable oak, vanilla, flint and lemon rind on bouquet and palate. Palate slightly lean and austere but had good acidity, power and fruit concentration. Thought this was definitely chardonnay but couldn't place this in US or Burg. Completely missed out that this could have been from Gantenbein
