From Beaune Les Prévolles. Decanted. Very pale red rather than pink; rhubarb on the nose and there’s bitter orange in there as well, in a negroni kind of way, whiff of candy and a hint of earth, bright and clear on the palate, transparent and expressive, dry but juicy, steely acidity is ripe, cocktail bitters on the almost savoury finish, very good resonance and length. Very exciting rosé, completely different from the prevalent (and in fact almost omnipresent) Provençal profile.
Nana-Tsu-Mori Pinot Noir 2022. Completely natural in style. Decanted. Not completely clear. Distinctly Prieuré-Roch in style - not classical music but damn good jazz. Wild and untamed but on the good side of wild and natural, quite autumnal in style on the intense nose, nuts and forest floor, tart red berries; quite dry and grippy on the enegetic palate, light to medium body (12% ABV); dry and appetising finish with good resonance. It does not really live up to the hype, but it is certainly very interesting to try.
Limestone soils, low sulfur, 14% ABV. Floral, fresh and pure, spicy depth, rosemary and thyme, red and black fruit, clear and bright, hint of cream, glossy even, good weight (14% ABV), wonderful limestone energy, sandy tannins, savoury notes, bitter orange, cocktail bitters, Nattermann, very good resonance and length. Fascinating stuff.
Competely pure, an infusion of 18 varieties of citrus fruits, flowers, herbs and roots in neutral alcohol, batch no. 9724, 28% ABV, 500 ml. Reminds me of a hierbas, cinnamon, dry but richly textured, so complex and fine, liquorice on the finish, long finish with cocktail bitters fanning out. Impressive.
