Flight 1 (6 Notes)

  • 2021 Domaine Michel Lafarge Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots Blanc 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru

BTG. Floral and nutty with combination of or hard and stone fruit to start, then brightening up middle-to-finish. Good already now, this has enough acidity, but still most likely to enjoy younger given it is this balanced, this young.

  • 2021 Domaine Larue Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Blanc 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru

Orchard fruit throughout, faintly floral, this is already at a very good place, best to drink young.

  • 2022 Buisson-Charles Meursault Vieilles Vignes 90 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

Ripe apple and pear throughout with spring flowers to start. Opens up as ripe, then more nutty and textured in the middle, finishing with a bright, minerally character. An excellent village wine now, clearly with further upside.

  • 2019 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie Fructus Voluptas 90 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie

Rich red, black, and blue berries with subtle spice and good depth. Nothing like the typical Jamet, this seems ready, willing, and able to provide pleasure in its youth, but without the long term potential. Sligjtly firm now, best 2025-2030ish.

  • 2020 Jérôme Chezeaux Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru

Small glass. Ripe red fruit, faintly spiced. Good balance, not quite the weight I would hope to get in Suchots in a good vintage.

  • 2018 Louis Chenu Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru

Small glass. Red and black berries with a touch of earth and forest aromas. Still faintly firm but overall well balanced and nicely accessible for a 2018 1er Cru. Entering its peak drinking window, good now.
